  • @IanExMachina:  You use the De Lisle carbine.

    The De Lisle was a carbine issued to British troops. Many of it's features were taken from other guns, such as its barrel (from the Thompson submachine gun) and its magazines (from the M1911 pistol). It's main feature was it's incredibly effective suppressor, which made it one of the quietest guns in history, much more quiet than modern guns outfitted with suppressors. It's production was limited mostly to commandos who could get the most use of its quiet firing.
  • So just to summarize what everyone would be so far:

    * AHR: Rifleman (USA)
    * Forzare: Anti-Tank (USA)
    * Gelzo: Machine Gunner (Nazi)
    * MadassAlex: Shock Trooper (British)
    * Malkavian: Tank Commander (Soviet)
    * Neo_Crimson: Flyboy (USA)
    * INUH: Marine (USA)
    * Icalsari: Sniper (Canada)
    * IanExMachina: Commando (British)

    More coming soon.

    Might as well assign myself a weapon. I'm a Nazi for the purposes of this thread.

    I use the StG 44.

    The StG 44 is commonly considered to be the first assault rifle ever produced. It's production was mainly because of the different view on weaponry between the Allies and the Axis. The Allies viewed the rifleman as the key to successful battles. The Axis saw machine guns as more important. Their attempts to create semi-automatic rifles had also petered out, leading them to create the assault rifle. It was successful in almost every way and soon other countries started to embrace the idea of assault rifles; the StG 44 can be said to be the main reason assault rifles are popular today.
  • I stand on Grendel's shoulders
    Uh Poland even though WWII was very tragic for us.
  • @Conductor: Soldier, you use the PIAT.

    The PIAT (Projector, Infantry, Anti Tank) was an anti-tank weapon used by British (and by extension the Scottish), though some other nations used it. It was developed when anti-tank weapons like the Boys Anti-Tank Rifle and the No. 68 AT Grenade Rifle proved ineffective.Along with being anti-tank, it was also used to take out fortifications and could be used as a crude mortar. It was complicated and difficult to cock and fire the weapon, but it gave off little muzzle blast and was inexpensive to produce. However, because of it's bulkiness, it proved unpopular. It proved more ineffective as German tanks became bulkier and developed more ways to counter anti-tank weapons.

    @Princess_Apricot: For the record, since you didn't respong with your nation, you're a Nazi since not nearly enough people are picking Germany.
  • @Schitzo: You are a paratrooper.

    Paratroopers were troops parachuted behind enemy lines, mostly used by the Allies. Obviously being a paratrooper was quite risky. Many paratroopers were shot in the air or died in their ships. In Operation Overlord, Erwin Rommel flooded nearby fields he knew paratroopers would land, drowning many. Paratroopers had a mixed rate of success. Operation Market Garden, which relied on paratroopers, was a failure. However, in Operation Overlord (mentioned earlier), despite their efforts being unorganized and sloppy, it is now said that the paratroopers had a critical role in the success of the battle.
  • PrincessApricot: You use the Panzerfaust.

    The Panzerfaust was an anti-tank weapon used by the Germans. It fired a HEAT missile. After firing, the tube was discarded, making it the first single use anti-tank weapon. Later models extended range and allowed the tube to be used multiple times before needing to be discarded. Though records of it's effectiveness vary, it's ability to be used by a single soldier, and its cheapness to produce, led to it becoming one of the most popular German anti-tank launchers and anti-tank rifles fell out of favor.

  • Champion of the Whales

    If Alex gets to be England, can I be in the United Kingdom and Commonwealth forces?

  • @Milos: You use the Bren.

    The Bren was a light machine gun used by England, Yugoslavian, and various other countries, and many still use it today. Weighing about 22 pounds, about medium weight for an LMG, it was an extremely accurate for an LMG; later models were modified to increase spread. It was very reliable, and jams were easily resolved. The qualities of its materials kept it from many malfunctions. It was well-liked by British troops, it is nowadays considered one of the best LMGs ever mass produced for combat.

  • UK, please.

  • if u do convins fashist akwaint hiz faec w pavment neway jus 2 b sur

    Bren is, like, the awesomest gun ever.
