"OMG! Miku is not a lesbian!"

This is a complaint I see fairly often on Vocaloid-based yuri videos ("Miku" could just as easily be replaced by any other female vocaloid name).

Yes, and by that logic, she's not a princess or a tsundere or a murderer, either.

She's just a voice and a face! She can be whatever the user wants her to be!

A lesser IJBM is that I almost never see these kinds of complaints with yaoi videos... Double standards ahoy...

  • But you never had any to begin with.
I hereby declare all Vocaloids to be bi. Problem solved. :P
  • Luka's so bi...lingual~. ;D
  • Kichigai birthday!!
VOCALOIDs are robots and thus, can't feel human emotions

Also Miku's only love is BACON HOT-DOGS

    >implying that the people making complaint A are necessarily the same people not making complaint B...
  • ^I see your point, but it's all the same fandom...
  • ^ Is it? What yaoi videos are you talking about here?

And for that matter, what yuri videos?
  • Fandoms gonna fanon.

    I stand on Grendel's shoulders
I don't get the obsession with the vocaloid characters beyond the context of the software.

Do they even have some kind of story?
  • Kichigai birthday!!
    ^ Official,not. It's all fan stuff

    Loser
    AnneBeeche,

I think part of the appeal is the fact that they lack a story (well aside from a manga) and so people can make vocaloid characters act however they want them to act (as Haldo said). I guess this is a bit of a stretch, but I feel like it is kind of similar to why things like LEGO, Minecraft, and custom character makers in MMORPGs are relatively popular.

Oh, I see. I can understand the appeal now. Making stuff up is fun.

If that's the case, why are these people so upset with other people depicting Miku as a lesbian? Your headcanon is no greater than somebody else's headcanon.
  • Kichigai birthday!!
Because some people are stupid *shrug*
  • a little muffled

I think that's the point the OP was trying to make.
  • MORONS! I'VE GOT MORONS ON MY PAYROLL!
But if other people say she's a lesbian then that makes my hooking up with her slightly more impossible!
  • Then there's Acme Iku for that sort of thing~. ;D
  • They're somethin' else.
    me/ Listens to SlashMaid

    ... I think I'm in love...
  • That's... surprisingly awesome...
  • MORONS! I'VE GOT MORONS ON MY PAYROLL!
Upon reflection my claim of the logic behind objections to Miku being a lesbian are probably untrue, as most of the objectors probably aren't male.

Unless someone has evidence to prove me wrong.
  • You can change. You can.
Blah blah people are anal about headcanon blah blah fandoms blah blah nobody cares blah blah just listen to the music nd pretend nobody else likes it till they're proven to be cool peeps blah blah why are you even caring about vocaloid blah blah listen to bajofondo instead
