I get that too, actually, though it usually manifests more as a thought of "there's nothing stopping me from beating the crap out of that janitor right now" than "let's beat up the janitor!"

Also my finger still hurts half an hour later.

It sounds like a form of OCD. I have OCD, but I've never thought any of the above things. Usually it causes me to take a step back on the pavement randomly. Why? Balls knows. I think if you can't resist doing things like punching people and wrecking property you should go see a shrink to help you out.

I do the inverse of the xkcd guy: I avoid the black tiles and those that are directly in front or in the back or to the sites of it (because they have been "contaminated") and only step in the 2x2 white tile squares that are left after the black tiles and adjacent tiles form gird lines across the mall floor.

Oh, and with regards to the OP: I've since replaced that particular bulb with one of those curly fluorescent ones. Now whenever I go to turn the light off, I have to resist the urge to touch it and compare the pain to the old-fashioned incandescent bulb.

According to Wikipedia, a real blacklight emits near-ultraviolet light.

I think the kind at you find at the party store and whatnot are just tinted purple, though.
