My friends are hanging out today, and I'm not sure if I want to go or not

Has friends besides tanks now
I'm in the marching band, so I had to march in the Veteran's Day parade. That ended at 11-ish, and I usually go to Dad's at 5:00. The friend offered to pick me up right after the parade, but I didn't want to spend the day going from a parade, to a friend's to my dad's, since there's no reliable Internet/access to Internet at any of these places (at least, not on my laptop).

My stepdad can bring me to the friend's house at any time, and my dad won't mind if I get to his house a few hours late if it's because I'm with friends, but I don't feel like I've done very much so far and kinda want to stay at home, especially since very little gets done at my friends' house besides everyone telling the same bad jokes and playing Uno. :/

  • "since there's no reliable Internet/access to Internet at any of these places (at least, not on my laptop)."

More reason for you to go.

"especially since very little gets done at my friends' house besides everyone telling the same bad jokes and playing Uno. :/"

And what gets done when you stay at home?

  • You know what? I'd say just go ahead. If they're good friends. Friends are forever~.

I already told my friend I'd be there in a half hour anyway, so I guess it's a moot thread.

"More reason for you to go."

    Not really.

"And what gets done when you stay at home?"

I dunno, something. I can practice clarinet, check the forums (since there's actually some important mod stuff being discussed today), lurk a nWoD forum I might join. Admittedly, there's a lot of potential for goofing off, but it's marginally more productive.
  • Checking forums, eh? Honestly, if you consider that "marginally more productive", it really makes me question the value you place on your friendships.

Instead of playing Uno, you should play a card game that's named after a certain Chinese dictator, and come up with lots of really creative rules.  Such as playing with two hands, or creating a conditional pickup pile, or something else.

^^ It's not so much the "being around friends" part. It's the part where we only ever do the same shit and none of us have drivers' licenses so we can go places or get movies we'd all watch, and we can't really just bug host parents to go get stuff for us/take us to get stuff/walk to places where we'd get this stuff. I admit that I don't value a lot of my friendships; that's why I'm so eager to graduate already.
  • One foot in front of the other, every day.
I remember walking a lot with my friends. Sometimes, when one of my best friends would sleep over, we'd walk 40 minutes to the mall and have breakfast at pancake parlour.

I'm smiling just at the memory. So don't underestimate walking with your friends or anything, because sometimes those times are the best.

Walking would be nice if it weren't so damp and rainy and miserable outside today.

if you can't actually go do stuff that requires transportation, how about something like tabletop role-playing?
  • "None of us have drivers' licences."

This may be your problem. I (still) can't drive myself and it would probably improve my social life if I could.

^ I'm scared of driving myself

I've seen how Calgary area drivers drive and have nearly been hit when crossing the street. When the guy was originally at a standstill and could clearly see me if they looked

So yeah, excuse me if I say fuck driving
