Wait, what? Never mind, I think I see what you mean. Heh. Honestly, I wasn't trying for wordplay; this is a legitimate complaint, and a problem that continually rears its ugly head in my life.
  • Heh heh. Clever.

But yeah. Hey, next time write "These truths are self evident, that (number) and X are created equal."
  • No rainbow star
    God that phrase is annoying
  • Thane of rum-guzzling and necromancy
How about I just show my tools instead?
  • Woah, other people who hate this phrase.
  • I got into the habit of showing my work early on, so I didn't have much problem with it. I can't imagine trying to do a question on an exam without showing your work anyway.
  • Has friends besides tanks now
^ That's my biggest problem with this phrase: if a problem has multiple steps that are reasonably complicated, nearly everyone is going to have to show their work anyway, just to solve the problem, since it necessitates that they have something to refer to. Otherwise, it should be evident that the problem is easy enough to be done mentally. Or at least, that's what I'd like the standard to be. >_>

"Otherwise, it should be evident that the problem is easy enough to be done mentally."

Think about it from the marker's perspective. If it is really that easy, then it would be an all-or-nothing deal. Imagine getting 0 on a question just because you made a tiny flub, yet the marker doesn't know.

  • Has friends besides tanks now
Hence the last sentence and shifty emoticon.
