MORONS! I'VE GOT MORONS ON MY PAYROLL!
How? He's insane, he's inarticulate, he openly states he's ignorant on important issues, and let's be honest his skin color doesn't do him any favors among Republicans.

I mean he's almost definitely not staying there, but god damn...

  • Republican =/= Racist
  • You can change. You can.
not in theory, but in practice...
  • MORONS! I'VE GOT MORONS ON MY PAYROLL!
No, Republicans are not automatically racist and it's not even a majority that are I'd venture but there is a racist element to the Republican party and it's enough to make a difference.
  • OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!
In this election, it doesn't take much to be better than the competition.
  • MORONS! I'VE GOT MORONS ON MY PAYROLL!
    It's a regular crazy-off in there.

I mean I expected Trump to say crazy things because it was an obvious publicity stunt, but I didn't expect the other Republican nominees to be just as nuts.

    You can change. You can.
    OK, fill me in:

Have candidates been selected for each party already?

    ninja'd with implied answer.
  • MORONS! I'VE GOT MORONS ON MY PAYROLL!
Well, the dems are obviously going with Obama because duh.

Republicans are still fighting it over. We've got Romney who flip-flops all over the damn place., Herman 'I don't like to read' Cain who wants to electrocute Mexicans, Newt Gingrich who supports the IRA,  Rick Perry who supports Texas' seceding, Michelle Bachman who is Michelle Bachman, and someone else I think too.
  • Has friends besides tanks now
Yeah. The current candidates leave me greatly depressed. And if a Tea Partier is elected President, I swear to God . . .
  • We Played Some Open Chords and Rejoiced, For the Earth Had Circled the Sun Yet Another Year
There's Newt Gingrich, John Hunstman, and Gary Johnson, none of whom have any chance at all.
  • No rainbow star
Sounds like it's pick your poison
  • OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!
This sort of thing is why I don't give a fuck about US politics.
  • MORONS! I'VE GOT MORONS ON MY PAYROLL!
Being unemployed because I graduated during a shitty economy makes me care even more than I originally did.
  • We Played Some Open Chords and Rejoiced, For the Earth Had Circled the Sun Yet Another Year
No, INUH, that's a bad bad bad thing to do, because intelligent people deciding not to care is how extremists like this get elected in the first place.
  • OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!
Well, who am I supposed to vote for? There aren't any good choices.
  • MORONS! I'VE GOT MORONS ON MY PAYROLL!
Every vote is going to be a vote for the lesser of two evils, it's just important make sure it's the lesser.
  • We Played Some Open Chords and Rejoiced, For the Earth Had Circled the Sun Yet Another Year
As bad as Obama may be, a Republican victory right now would be even worse, so Obama 2012, I guess.
  • OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!
Obama's a wildcard, though. A vote for him is a vote for whatever he feels like doing in a few years, and this term has shown that it will have nothing to do with anything he says during the campaign.
  • MORONS! I'VE GOT MORONS ON MY PAYROLL!
As problematic as Obama has been, he's done some good things which is more than I can say for any Republican candidate going in.
  • No rainbow star
Obama's new slogan: Yes we can! ...Because really, it's either me or the clowns in the other party

"Every vote is going to be a vote for the lesser of two evils, it's just important make sure it's the lesser."

It's really a shame you lot are stuck with a two-party system. Especially relevant since over here, the NDP just made its biggest gain in ever.

I'd like to advocate voting third party if possible, but then I remember the anti-Nader media propaganda after the 2000 election.

  • OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!
Washington's farewell address warned that everything would go to shit if we ever created parties. And...well, here we are...ugh.
  • You can change. You can.
I'd argue that even with a 4 party system like the one in here (No, scratch that...six), it always boil down to 2. The other four candidates tend to be weaker due to a variety of reasons.

    but yeah, bipartyism sucks
  • And with a lot of European countries, it still ends up being a contest between two factions due to coalitions.
  • Creature - Florida Dragon Turtle Human
Yeah, as long as you have a first-past-the-post voting system you're going to get that result.

As for me, well, I'm almost certainly going to vote for the Democratic presidential candidate, since (1) I don't want to see any of these clowns or crazies on the Republican side take office, and (2) I pretty much disagree with everything over on that side, policy ideas and campaigning style, with only like two exceptions, and (3) Obama's actually done me some good.  Specifically, I still have health insurance right now thanks to the healthcare reform bill.
  • Again, what about the third parties?
  • MORONS! I'VE GOT MORONS ON MY PAYROLL!
Arguments about third parties make me believe in consensus magic.
  • I'm fine with voting for the lesser of two evils instead of a wonderful candidate that has zero chance of winning.

Speaking of lesser of two evils, I can accept that some people are displeased with Obama, but if they won't concede that he's at least the lesser of two evils for the upcoming race, I have a hard time accepting that they've seen enough of the Republican candidates to be sure or are making this judgement in a reasonable way.
  • I am Dr. Ned who is totally not Dr. Zed in disguise.
If only we had Proportional Representation.
Then the govt would definitely appear much more relevant.
  • Am I the only person who thinks "Herman Cain" would make a great name for a comic book villain? It would have to be a villain, it just sounds wrong for a hero.

  • I'd say it sounds more like a boss of a heroic organization who doesn't do field work himself.
