System Shock 2

edited 2011-03-09 01:28:52 in General
I think I posted this back on the old IJBM forum, but I'm bringing it back again.

System Shock 2 is on every "best PC games ever" list I've ever seen, and yet despite being considered a true classic and worth playing, it has not gotten a digital release thanks to EA sitting on the license. GOG has it on their #1 entry for most requested, and people on the forums want it badly, but the general response seems to be "EA won't let them."

This really pisses me off and makes me upset that I can't have one of the best PC games ever made because physical CD versions cost upwards of $100 and it takes a lot to get working on modern PCs. I almost want to write a long letter to EA about it but I bet they won't care.

  • You can probably find a reasonably priced copy of it on Amazon, I found a copy for 30$ once and it worked fine.

Yeah, you can get it used on Amazon for like $40.

And you could probably find it for even cheaper if you look around on other sites.

Or you can just torrent it.
  • -googles System Shock-
  • $40 is still a lot for an old game.
  • $40 for "one of the best PC games ever made" doesn't really sound that bad (not that I know if it lives up to that description or not), since I've been fine with paying $60 for games that were just alright.
  • The problem is I'd rather be spending GOG prices on it than $40 (which is a lot for me since I'm a college student) and the fact that EA is probably locking them out of the rights is annoying me. I'm really starting to consider writing a letter now, even though I know it'll have no impact.
