What's a JRPG/JRPG-esque game that's slipped under the radar that I might like. For example, I saw this game called Record of Agarast War at the Con. Is it worth a rental? Are there even better games I should know about?

    To be honest, I'm mostly recommending it because I'm a fanboy. Unless you're up for some serious challenge, I'd think twice. It's by all measures a brilliant game, but it requires a certain degree of patience and willingness to get fucked over with a second's notice.

    That said, once you get it, give me a holler. I'll coach you a little on the system, which'll make life a lot easier. It doesn't exactly teach you anything that isn't basic game mechanics, see.

    This is a pretty dumb one, but I'm rather fond of Megaman X Command Mission, although I don't expect you to get it unless you have older consoles and patience to hunt for it.

    The way Dark Souls works is this: every challenge is surmountable. If you make a mistake, though, the game doesn't say "oh, why don't you try that from five seconds ago," but instead says "well, what did you do that for?! Get back to that checkpoint, and if you want your souls back, you'd better at least be able to get back to where you were."

    Maybe try out Rune Factory: Tides of Destiny if Harvest Moon with dungeons sounds like your kind of thing. Of course, there's supposedly less farming in that one.

    Black and White is probably the best in the series. Should definitely be top priority, in my opinion.
