    You can change. You can.
Also, the furry comments. Really guys? REALLY!?

    >Taking furry comments seriously

I guess I'll just have to turn roguish and anonymous like to convey a point.

MORONS! I'VE GOT MORONS ON MY PAYROLL!
The furry jokes were all obviously tongue-in-cheek. Don't make me think thou doth protest too much.

And I believe I've made it known my opinion on the 'subjective' argument.

Besides, there are also plenty of people who agree modern sonic games are shit but still keep buying them. I've talked to them. They're not a small thing.
  • "The furry jokes were all obviously tongue-in-cheek. Don't make me think thou doth protest too much."

Pah. I like my jokes to be actually funny, thank you very much.

  • MORONS! I'VE GOT MORONS ON MY PAYROLL!
Methinks thou doth protest to much~
  • Fine. I'll laugh.

  • You can change. You can.
Whether they're funny or not doesn't matter. You're still accussing the other party of attacking you when they did not do anything out of malice.

    Stupid argument is stupid.

Also, stupid physics are stupid, and I think that given how many videos about Sonic 4's physics have been made, Sega would definitely pay attention if they had half a brain.
  • $80+ per session
I'm just a little annoyed that the people who are voicing their dislike of Sonic games seem to be actively ignoring the most recent Sonic game, which is a very good game.

  • This game's pretty sweet.

    Malkavian,
IJBM: Sonic threads always involve lots of drama.

Yeah, that kind of bugs me too. If I was qualified to make a "judgment" about the Sonic series, or at least about people's reactions to it, I would say that sometimes people (especially certain game reviewers) exaggerate how bad recent Sonic games have been in terms of playability and want the franchise to go back to something that was not its focus in the genesis games (i.e. focus on speed). I wonder if Sega has listened to those kinds of arguments too much as of late. I do not honestly know.

Still, if one wants to see evidence that Sonic Team is making (or has made) other games that people like, I guess you can point to the Phantasy Star Online series.

    On the topic at hand,

^ How do you find such perfect image macros.  How.

Coz we gave up? I'm only gonna be tricked so many times I'm buying mediocre sonic games with the promise of "this time we get it and it'll be good!" only to be served sub-par platformer or something simply puzzling like Sonic and the Black Knight.
  • "Coz we gave up?"

Doesn't sound like you've given up.

  • $80+ per session
    Except it isn't sub-par.
  • MORONS! I'VE GOT MORONS ON MY PAYROLL!
My sister has a copy of Sonic Colors. I've played it. It certainly isn't bad. However, I wouldn't rate it above a rental, really. It's got some interface problems and while it's taken steps to make platforming work in 3-D it doesn't quite work.

Colors is a step in the right direction, I'll give it that, but it isn't the return to glory classic Sonic fans want.
  • What would consist of a return to glory anyway? Hopefully such a thing doesn't include Labyrinth Zone or Sandopolis Zone bullshit in it.
  • MORONS! I'VE GOT MORONS ON MY PAYROLL!
At this point nostalgia filter has taken over so much that I'm not sure that's quantifiable.

Also, shut your whore mouth. Sandopolis Zone was awesome.
  • Act One, maybe. Act Two just showed me that environmental puzzles do not belong in a Sonic game.
  • MORONS! I'VE GOT MORONS ON MY PAYROLL!
When I was seven I felt like Einstein for figuring out how to kill that Golem.

  • That's not a real game. They took footage from the regular Sonic and Knuckles and sort of traced over it with 3DS Max.

But suppose it was a real game.
  • Oh, you mean this?

    glennmagusharvey,

The Sonic boards on IGN deserve credit for that reaction image, not me.

    Abyss_Worm,
What would consist of a return to glory anyway?

Yep, I think that really is the big question. I mean some people certainly seem to suggest that going back to "Sonic only" gameplay is one way to do that, but I wonder if that change mostly ignores the gameplay issue. Plus, while Sonic style gameplay was in the older games, there still were some other playable characters.

On the other hand, I guess there is the gameplay element, but I have yet to see much agreement there about what makes good Sonic gameplay aside from maybe some stuff about camera angles. From what I can tell, some critics focus on speed above most everything else while others criticize that as "hold right to win" silliness. However, I do not think the second type of critics' preferred gameplay is crystal clear either unless it just boils down to re-releasing Sonic 3&K with more levels.

In any event, I think that both sides can unite in making fun of Sonic 2006 and its associated memes.
  • ^^ -slowly nods my head-
  • From my experience with replaying Sonic 2, I remember thinking that the Special Stages were awesome. They were...until I actually tried getting all the Chaos Emeralds. The trial and error gameplay the stages demanded of me eventually made me think the worst thing one can say about a game: "I could be doing something better with my time."
  • I think Louie's gif won the thread.  Forever.
  • Years ago, my cousins and I kept trying to no avail.

Last summer, I met them for the first time in 8 years.

We knew what we had to do before summer's end.

Finally, after years of failure, we obtained all the chaos emeralds.

After 20 years, Eggman felt the wrath of Super Sonic.
  • True story, I kid you not. We were all hysterical when we actually got that last black Chaos Emerald. Memories that will last a lifetime.
  • No rainbow star
I think a return to glory would involve Sonic 4 but with working physics
  • "But suppose it was a real game."

    It is now.

Also, I might add that I haven't played Sonic Generations yet, but the Modern levels look so much more fun than the Classic levels. Perhaps there's a message in all of this.
