In case that's a real question, it's a Japanese adoption of the word pants, which can be used to mean pants, but is more commonly used to refer to underpants. In a weeaboo context, it's always panties.

I still do think that competition swimwear looks better than the stereotypical school swimsuits, though. And for whatever reason, animé seems to not be that great at presenting particularly appealing pictures of girls in swimsuits.

Maybe it's because they're not real people. Hmm.
