    ^Nathaniel, from The Bartimaeus Trilogy, isn't like that either.
    In fact, he's pretty much the complete opposite, being an intelligent and ambitious antihero who doesn't even have a proper love interest in the series. (Though I guess he does seem to be interested in a couple of the female characters.)

    And yeah, he kind of  has some possible love interests, but never really seems to care enough to pursue it.

    Well, there's Jane Farrar, who uses his obvious attraction to her to manipulate him. He gets over her pretty fast though. The Kitty / Nathaniel ship is hinted at a bit but never really goes anywhere. That's about it, I think.

    Mine had a nice convenient spot in the family library. I knew when I finished the series that I'd be picking it up again sometime.

    Most of my books got moved up there when we dismantled my room to put in hardwood floor.  Otherwise it's still be there in a convenient place.

    That's what my room looked like before I actually had to clean the damn thing.  I had like four bookshelves' worth of books on one.

    Especially when I want to read something old. I started reading Cat's Cradle over the summer because of the references to it in 999, but never finished it because it gave me headaches.

    ^^Mine used to. My mom made me quit in middle school because it was giving me sinus infections.

    The footnotes were the best part of those books.  Especially at the end of the last book, when [Bartimaeus and Nathaniel are sharing a body, and Bart starts trying to footnote Nate's chapters.]
