Tyra Banks' fantasy novel, Modelland

edited 2011-09-27 12:52:09 in Media
One foot in front of the other, every day.
Featuring a plain girl whose name is "Tookie de la Creme" who wants to become an "Intoxibella", a beautiful queen bitch of a society with an economy run on fashion.

Which is apparently getting a movie deal.

Sorta disappointing on a few levels. First, that this idea was conceived of. Secondly, that it's Tyra Banks. It would be interesting to have a book like this written by a more critical-minded model for the purpose of criticising the fashion industry.

    Give us fire! Give us ruin! Give us our glory!
    I remember this, I was going to write this off as some sort of joke that everyone would forge-

    >"Tookie de la Ceme"
    >movie deal

  • I vaugely remember hearing about the book a while back. I guess my mind tried to block it out to protect me from the horror.
  • I'd rather read fantasies involving Tara Banks than fantasy novels written by her. And, to be honest, I don't even want to read those that much.

    >"Modelland," Tyra's new young adult novel for teen girls, follows a
    girl named Tookie De La Creme who gets invited to attend an elite
    modeling school called Modelland..the most exclusive school in the entire world, the school that creates
    the most amazing supermodels called Intoxibellas."

    So...it's Harry Potter, but with models?

  • One foot in front of the other, every day.
    Magical models.
  • Clean your room little Billy

    The elements of this clusterfuck of psychosis could very well coalesce into the unintentional cult comedy classic to end them all. Or it could be just terrible, but I remain optimistic.

  • MORONS! I'VE GOT MORONS ON MY PAYROLL!
    You know teenage girls are going to love the shit out of this right?
  • My sister is a teenage girl. She liked Twilight. She has more taste than this.
  • ^^If it costs a dime, certainly.
  • Give us fire! Give us ruin! Give us our glory!
    Teenage? I kinda doubt it. By then most girls have dropped the "I wanna be a model" dream.

    I totally expect 11-12 year old girls to eat this up though.
  • When I heard that Tyra Banks was writing a fantasy novel, I expected Narnia or Eragon but not this travesty.

    I still love SPACETRAVEL!'s version of the story. Sheer brilliance.
  • They're somethin' else.
    I want to make love to Tyra Banks with a buzz saw.
  • Threesome. Kinky.
  • You can change. You can.
    Of all the words in all the worlds...

    kinky?

    @ship Kraken/Kinkajou.
  • Till shade is gone, till water is gone, into the Shadow with teeth bared, screaming defiance with the last breath, to spit in Sightblinder’s eye on the last Day.
    @ship Kraken/Kinkajou/buzzsaw.
  • You know, I want to think this is weird or whatever but... I kinda don't.  I mean, I'm sure it'd suck, but the premise itself doesn't really bother me.

  • a little muffled
    @ship Kraken/Kinkajou
    Canon.
  • It's one thing to hear about how idiotic the premise is, but how about actually figuring out what it's about? Be warned: it's as bad as you've heard.

  • One foot in front of the other, every day.
    Goodness great-swords!
  • Give us fire! Give us ruin! Give us our glory!
    You will not make that a catchphrase. I will not allow it!
  • One foot in front of the other, every day.
    And thus did Neo Crimson doom us all.
  • Modelland reminds me of that one Twilight Zone episode for some reason.
  • this looks really bad but I kinda want to see it. :X
  • Kamen Rider MADOKA
    So this does nothing but prove that modelling is not a career but a mental disorder?
  • And just like that, my hypothesis that Tyra Banks is a hyperactive six year old girl in a grown woman's body was proven.
  • $80+ per session
    Bob is like Tyra Banks mixed with Charlie Sheen.
  • With a little bit of Sarah Silverman, some Hugh Hefner, and a pinch of Morgan Freeman.
  • $80+ per session
    And just a sprinkle of Vorpy :D
