Becoming disillusioned with something

I look back at things I liked a lot a few years ago, and wonder how i ever found it entertaining. Then I look at things I like now, and worry that eventually I'll dislike most everything I've liked.

  • I dunno, sometimes I develop a greater appreciation for things I didn't pay much attention to at first.

Or maybe that's not completely accurate, seeing as how I can't think of a specific example.
  • I used to be willing to sit through just about anything entertainment-related, because people tend to be less critical when younger. Interestingly, whenever I revisit works years later, I noticed things I didn't before. This sometimes meant some stuff didn't hold up as well, but other times, seeing things from a more experienced perspective makes me appreciate it in a whole new way.

There was one moment in a show which I remembered was really good. I didn't quite know why I liked it so much, but the fond memory was there. Upon seeing it again, my experience with writing essays made me more able to understand what about that moment was so appealing, and now it's an even better memory.

  • The flaws of Independence Day that I overlooked when I was younger now cannot be ignored now that I'm older...T_T
  • Here's a really important epiphany I realized a while back: Everything and everyone you know WILL disappoint you eventually, and the first time it happens is the time to re-evaluate it and your connection to it and determine for yourself if they're worth keeping around.
