Mozilla Firefox

Specifically, the fact that, after 7+ years of development, it still requires you to restart to install/uninstall/enable/disable extensions. >:(

(This is one feature where Google Chrome indisputably kicks FF's ass)

I actually don't see much of a problem with this, honestly.

That said, I basically transfer my whole personal profile config folder from one computer to another when installing Firefox.  Keeps my settings and saves tons of time.

Is there a way to have a menu bar in Chrome?

  • Well, when I get extensions, it's basically because I think "I want Firefox to do [whatever]" and I go and look for a [whatever] add-on. But the I want to test it out for a while to see if it's what I want, and maybe try a couple different ones if there's more than one add-on that does [whatever]. I usually have at least 20 tabs open, and it's a pain to have to keep restarting to try different add-ons.

I don't think you can have a menu bar in Chrome, no.

Also, I have stopped using full themes and instead opt for personas--which you don't need to restart to use.

...why the hell are you using Final Fantasy Firefox 4?  Hell, I continued using Firefox 2 for months after Firefox 3 came out.  Maybe even a year, though I don't remember exactly.

There's no way to put it back into the window you had it in
Yes there is. Just click and drag the tab into the tab bar of the other window.  Unless Firefox 4 got rid of that for some reason.
    Though, it's definitely inconvenient.

If you're having trouble with that, set it so that the tab bar appears all the time.  Then you can definitely drag back into the tab bar even if you only have one tab open.
  • My main gripe with FF4 (from the little I've used it) is that the font rendering is ass.

For some reason it always uses the vector version of a font, even when there's a bitmap version for the appropriate size.
  • Well, I noticed it in the earlier betas.

    I may give FF4 a try again...

WHY ARE YOU USING FIREFOX 4 WHEN IT'S STILL A BETA?

    AND THEN COMPLAINING ABOUT IT?

Also, I still find Firefox 3's interface to be bothersome.  I have a plugin that takes it back to Firefox 2's interface, with separate back/forward buttons and lists.

The only thing about Firefox 3's interface that I don't like is the button in the address bar that bookmarks the current page.

Which I accidentally click on all the time.

Though, that can easily be removed, so... yeah.
  • I am a moron at using Firefox, and knowing which version I have. (I have 3 thanks to the About Firefox button), but I don't know how to get it to play .swf files anymore (due to something about a mandatory patch and having two .swf entries, one for download and the other for playing embedded ones), which asks me to download them anyway unless it's from Dagobah.net.
