Being Pissed of by what People say on the Internet

edited 2011-02-28 18:20:09 in General
Stop letting them control you, dog.

There is nothing to gain by getting angry/snarky about it. It doesn't matter what Yahtzee says. It doesn't matter what I say. It doesn't matter what Lauren Faust says. It doesn't matter what ED says.

Just enjoy yourself and stop devoting brain processing to things that don't matter. Enjoy your internet experience with fun, not keyboard swordsmanship or wanking.

  • I think it does matter what people say.
  • I think it depends on how much time you spend on the internet. If you go on for a little while, it doesn't affect you. When you go on a lot, you're hit with many varying opinions on things you thought were universal. It's understandable to be ticked off.

Conversely, being on the internet long enough lets you realize and come to terms with the fact that haters gonna hate. But some people just don't learn.

However, I do think it is important to recognize and pay attention to wisdom no matter the source.
  • Pretty much. Besides, different people expect different things from their internet experience, if it's your intention to participate and discussions and learn things, it's rather counterproductive to shut off what other say, regardless of your agreeing with it, or it annoying you.
  • -applauds-  I generally don't give a crap what people say on the internet, though there are a few exceptions, like when I get to know someone really well and they actually know enough about me to come up with an accurate insult.  In general, it stings more to be insulted or criticized by someone you actually like.
  • It shouldn't hurt most of the time though if it is criticism, but if it's an insult, the both of you need to get your priorities straight and look in yourself to evaluate whether or not what you are saying is going to help or better what is being addressed.
