I just watched Seven Samurai for the first time.

One foot in front of the other, every day.
And even though I've been exposed to most of its creative and interesting elements through other works that borrow from it, it still kicks ass.

  • True that.

About three of the samurai were completely unremarkable, though.
  • They're somethin' else.
Mifune's character was a badass motherfucker.

Hmm, lemme see if I can remember all the samurai by trait.

    Old wise samurai.
    The high spirited one.
    The naive teenage one.
    Swordmaster.
    The hilarious nodachi one.

    And that's all I got.

Same could be said of the Dozen and the Magnificent Seven.

Well yeah. My first thought on adaptation of Seven Samurai was along the lines of "You only really need five, if that".

Aw, but you get Coward Vaughn! Coward Vaughn is the shit!

And Dexter. Dexter's a cool peep, too. If a bit too much of an idiot for my taste.

Think of the writing complications in having that many protagonists, though.

Seven Samurai was brilliant, but only three or four of the samurai were really developed characters. Similarly, there were perhaps three or four villagers that had proper characterisation. In three hours, that was a tight squeeze.

I wonder why they didn't develop the seven instead of the villagers. I mean, the factions were never that important, really. Oh well.

Also, those two I mentioned were, imo, the least developed characters from the adaptation (I still need to watch the original one, because lolol no copies around. >_<)

Wait, you haven't seen the original? : o

(He says 24 hours after watching it.)

    No, I HAVE NOT

    THEN HOP TO IT ASSHOLE

DOWNLOAD THAT SHIT IF YOU HAVE TO

Seriously, like I said in the OP, it's awesome even if you've seen the films that have borrowed from it.

I knowit's probably good beyond the fact that it's been severely ripped off, dude. Hell, I still lov Citizen Kane, even though everyne and their moms have stolen stuff from it.

I just can't download things with no internet, you know.

I mean to say that other things ripping it off won't ruin it for you. There's no Seinfield Is Unfunny going on here.

How are you here without internets? Are you a Colombian Cocaine Ghost or something? D:
  • You can change. You can.
Ah. that thing never really bothered me and I always thought people made too much of  big deal about it.

I am your needs. I am your dreams. I am your lies. I am your truth.
  • MORONS! I'VE GOT MORONS ON MY PAYROLL!
Just a warning. Don't go in expecting badass katana fights. Not they aren't any but that's really not what the movies about.

Also, while Samurai is the better movie I prefer Yojimbo.

There's one really good one, though.

Meh, it' like going into a Leone movie because of the shootouts.

    ...which i totally don't do >_>
