  • Till shade is gone, till water is gone, into the Shadow with teeth bared, screaming defiance with the last breath, to spit in Sightblinder’s eye on the last Day.

    Fine, if you insist:

  • If you must eat a phoenix, boil it, do not roast it. This only encourages their mischievous habits.
    Okay:

    1) What makes this a "Secret" and not just a message of unabashed hate?

    2) People have been shipping "platonic" relationships and developing them into sexual or romantic relationships through fanart and fanfiction since the dawn of fandom. This is nothing new. If you're genuinely disgusted by it, the right thing to do is CLICK THE BACK BUTTON and go explore other areas of the fandom.

    3) No one would write sexual Hiccup/Toothless fanfiction (or any sexual fanfiction about canonically "platonic" characters) if they didn't enjoy the source material or the original friendship between the characters in question. A large part of fandom is exploring "what if" scenarios and developing characters in new ways, and "judging" people for doing that in a way you do not enjoy smacks of "fandom elitism," and does little to encourage people to join communities and share love of a common thing--you know, the actual definition of fandom. There's no such thing as a "true fan" -- especially since such a thing is often defined as those who only support "canon" material. Fans of porn, fans of canon, shippers, gen-fic authors, fanartists, crazed-theory spouters... they're all fans. And judging someone for participating in the fandom in a way you don't appreciate isn't called for.

    4) There's plenty of platonic fic out there. Go read that, and leave the pornfic-authors alone. If they put all the proper warnings in place and didn't tie you up and force you to read material that made you uncomfortable, you have no reason to complain.

    AWESOME.

    Thumbs up entirely.

This comment should be the answer to all of the "if you ship this I judge you" secrets.

For once, I agree with you 100%. Well said.

    amen

    Some sanity:

It's beastiality and it's sick. I don't give a shit, fucking an animal or enjoying reading about someone doing it is SICK. You are sick for defending it.

    Then this:

because fictional representations of bestiality are totally the same as actually going out and fucking an animal, right?

oh wait except for the fact that they're not

    -_-

    Moar sanity:

Congratulations on completely missing the OP's point.
  • "I disagree with the idea that Nanoha is less deserving of analysis. Although it's because I believe that all works deserve analysis and I think that all works should be studied. Also, after so many Huck Finn analysis, is there anything sound that hasn't been said about the book?

I'm not saying that Finn is not an important work. But I feel that dismissing a show without having analysed it and studied it and saying that it isn't worth of analysis seems pretty lame. And regressive, too."

Admittedly, I couldn't really think of a better word at that point and I was biased by the many analyses that made crap up to make something seem deeper than it actually is. I do agree that every story has a message (even if that message is that there shouldn't be one) and thus reflect some aspect of the human experience, but some people go a little too far with attributing significance.

^^ Aren't both the dragon and the kid, well, kids in that? Making the shipping (especially sexual shipping) even more disturbing?

Yes. The Internet hates normal people, it seems.
