My cat is dead

I woke up this morning and found it squished on the road, probably from being ran over...I remembered then, all of the fond memories I had together with it, watching it grow up and mew and stuff...

sucks to be you, cat.

I was thinking of buying a new one now, what breed do you think I should get? Should I get a kitten or adopt-a-cat?

  • Glaives are better.
Vorpy, I want you to find someone nearby, like a parent or a sibling or a friend. Have them hug you, because I can't.
  • Kichigai birthday!!
    :(

Fortunately, all of my pets have died of age, so I guess I should be thankful.

    And I'd go for adoption

    Anyway,condolences
  • They're somethin' else.
    Feel better, Vorpy.

I've always liked the dark topside, white bottomside kinds. (Don't know cat breed names)
  • Mr. The Edge goes to Washington

Poor kitty! You should probably adopt a cat though. There are so many homeless cats in the world... and yet, feral cats are better than feral dogs.

All three of my cats are ones my wife and I found. Nox, a short-haired manx, was found in a gutter when he was about 8 weeks out. Silk, a long-haired tabby, and Velvet, a short-haired tabby, were kittens of a feral cat that belonged to a German shepard in my wife's parents neighborhood. They decided they wanted to become our pets and so here we are.

    Poor kitty paws....

Are you sure you're ready for a new one so soon? :< Not trying to say you aren't I mean I'm just asking to be sure but I'm sure you've already thought about it and that it probably wasn't necessary for me to ask asdfghjkl-

*huggle* If you can, adopt a kitty that needs a home. <3
  • Kichigai birthday!!
My sister's 3 cats are adopted. Feels good

If I could say something better than "Sorry about that", I would.

My cat, Sputnik, died two years ago. He was a grey-black fellow with the softest fur you'd ever feel in your life, and he had these white paws that looked like little socks, and part of his face was white, too. He was scared of everything, would always run around the house yelling, but he was a big fellow, clearly very strong. If you petted him on the base of his tail, he would nibble whatever was in front of him. He was the greatest.

Then he had some kind of embolism. In the days before we put him to sleep, he was blind.

    No rainbow star
My cat had a stroke and was in severe painbefore she could be put down

So count your cat lucky in that the death was very likely to be quick

    I'd also say adopt one

Edit: Sorry but I'm finding it hard to keep a straight face after reading, "suck to be you, cat."
  • I am Dr. Ned who is totally not Dr. Zed in disguise.
    :(

    I'd echo the adoption sentiment.
  • MORONS! I'VE GOT MORONS ON MY PAYROLL!
I'm really sorry about that Vorpy....

As for a new cat, I recommend going to the ASPCA or a similar rescue area. Plenty of nice cats looking for homes.

  • You should probably go to an animal shelter. But not so soon, you might need time to grieve. We didn't get Buddy (my current dog) until almost two months after Sophie (previous dog, sometime in 1998-12/22/2004) was euthanized.

And not to sound insensitive, but you don't sound like you miss him/her very much.
  • When in Turkey, ROCK THE FUCK OUT
    Sorry about that.
