"Jolene"

We Played Some Open Chords and Rejoiced, For the Earth Had Circled the Sun Yet Another Year

Note: The original song is by Dolly Parton, but I like this version better.

It's a good song, but it always struck as being a bit silly. Because, really, if you have to beg someone else not to seduce your husband away from you, either A) a breakdown in communication has occurred somewhere in this relationship and should probably be fixed, or B) your husband probably does not hold in very high regard.

  • When in Turkey, ROCK THE FUCK OUT
Maybe he finds Jolene so attractive that he's projecting his love of Jolene onto her, and trying to find an excuse for it?

no, see, that song is written by Dolly Parton, who was simply begging Jolene not to steal her husband.
  • When in Turkey, ROCK THE FUCK OUT
Well, the White Stripes are better songwriters than Jolene, so maybe having Jack White sing it instead of Meg was a re-interpretation.
  • They're somethin' else.
I think the point of the song was that the speaker was obviously pathetic, and that there was no need for her to be picked on. Look for a challenge, you slut.
