  • Internet criticism has brainwashed people to the point that they are able to consider this funny.

^^ Well there are different types of critics, of course, but couldn't they be considered critics too?

Yes and no. The problem with the AVGN, the NC and the like is that they're just deliberately negative critics.

Yes, there is the word critic in there. But if you really want to learn about a work, if it is worth checking out, etc etc. They''re hardly the easiest or most reliable way of doing do. Because they're too busy being deliberately negative about the work. Not to mention that they're not interested in analysing good works either and just choose works based solely on how much comedic material they can provide.

Maybe you can consider them critics. But I wouldn't say they're either reliable or that they're on the same group that say, Ebert is. (Regardless of what Ebert himself says. >_>)

^ AVGN has reviewed games such as the Mario games before. He doesn't solely review bad games or give only bad reviews

    His favourite game series:

Though I agree they shouldn't be treated as serious critics, since even they don't regard themselves as such.

Maybe it would be useful to differentiate between critics (people who analyze a work and take it to task) and reviewers (people who write quality-judging opinions for the purpose of being informative to others who don't know the work).

Some people are both at the same time, but some people may be one but not the other.
