When Blu-ray ruins effects

MORONS! I'VE GOT MORONS ON MY PAYROLL!
This happens a hell of a lot. I just got Darkman on Blu-ray and I'm sitting there, watching it the entire time thinking 'I don't remember it having this many green screen effects'. And on Nightmare you can see strings in a lot of settings.

I'm wondering if Blu-ray just hurts older movies that base themselves on effects.

    I always felt that seeing things too clearly was a liability for suspension of disbelief.  This confirms my feelings.

    I remember watching a lot of Blu-Ray movie tests, and the thing that bugged me about them was the frame-rate shake, where if something is moving, the show would suddenly get a tiny-bit slower. I noticed this with the Blu-Ray Jurassic Park scene, where the Tyrannosaurus looked a lot less quick in the Jeep scene than it should have, and a lot of weird effects were being used on the rain and lighting which were not there originally, like the dithering.

    I remember reading something about how the porn industry was experiencing a shakeup because of Blu-Ray porn, since the higher definition allowed viewers to see all the model's imperfections.

    I only watch new movies/Movies that rely on effects on BR. The rest, I watch on DVD

    ^^Considering how low budget porn is, and how directors would probably be aware of that issue beforehand, I kind of doubt that would be a thing.

    I agree with Dantes and Juan. And yeah, the artifacting, fucked up framerates and "higher quality" pisses me off.
