Color films set in the thirties and forties

MORONS! I'VE GOT MORONS ON MY PAYROLL!
There's an odd break in my suspension of disbelief because of how many of movies of the era were black & white and thus it feels oddly unreal to me to see the thirties and forties in color.

Does anyone else have this problem?

One foot in front of the other, every day.
Any film set before the 20th century is null in my eyes.

The thing is that film records for those eras don't exist so there's no disconnect in my mind.

I'm not claiming this is a sensible thing to think, you know. >_>
  • Till shade is gone, till water is gone, into the Shadow with teeth bared, screaming defiance with the last breath, to spit in Sightblinder’s eye on the last Day.
I kind of have the same reaction.  Not quite enough to completely take me out of whatever it is, but it's there.

I love those movies for the same reason. It reminds me that the world before the 60s wasn't black-and-white, Technicolor or Kodachrome.
  • Mr. The Edge goes to Washington

I have no problem with that. Color existed in life during the 30s and 40s. Just like sound existed before it accompanied film. People moved around before film as well.
