@Everest: It was taken by some guy who made a grand total of two posts, both on the same day in January. Annoying.

There's still hope. Ninety percent of twits are made by 10% of Twits. Chances are likely you'll be in the majority that tweets once and forgets. And if you do, you can always twit here on the status page.

I mostly use it to talk with a friend I made at PortCon, actually. Though now that we have each other's numbers and can text, I have much less incentive to use Twitter.
