I understand now that Bernkastel helped Rika assure that the tragedies would never occur again in Rei, so the "everyone dies and goes insane" stories won't occure again, but I still think people are over-reacting to this. I don't care if it's fanservice. As long as the series doesn't devolve into unexistence I will be fine with whatever they give me....regardless of how derailed from the main story it is.

Looking at the explosions of anger on myanimelist and other sites via Google, I can safely say people need to chill the fuck out a bit.

There was a finishing chapter in Rei called the Dice-Killing chapter which helped end the series for good to prevent anything from making the story return to the bloody horror and have Rika's friends die gruesome deaths.
