Granted, my family has two others on back up, but this is the one we have hooked up and use all the time. This is the one that we've scraped the paint off of the power button and left mouse button. This was the first computer we ever got connected to the internet. We had one other before it that my father got from on top of a dumpster, but I didn't really care about computers at that time, and I never really got to appreciate it, figuring out the password, scouring the thing for personal files and pictures to delete that the previous owners hadn't removed themselves before consigning it to the abyss.

The important bits of this one have been copied over, and will move on to another host. The unimportant bits of this one will be left on it, any incriminating data left their for whoever may find it. Old duplicate files and back ups from the viruses, reams of useless text files generated by error reports. All left behind.

How do you mourn a death like this?

    By remembering all the times it crashed and generally didn't work right and then proceeding to take it into the middle of the street and release your sadistic rage on it with a baseball bat, of course.
