MORONS! I'VE GOT MORONS ON MY PAYROLL!
I mention that I pre-ordered Catherine and the clerk mutters something about 'faggy anime games'

Not only is that really inappropriate for an employee to do...

...I feel pretty hetero buying the game.

  • Gamestop employees are kind of terrible though, so... yeah.
  • I never heard anyone say this.

When I bought Record of Agarest War, the female employee actually said she liked the game and thought it was very fun.

MORONS! I'VE GOT MORONS ON MY PAYROLL!
I'm definitely not making any implications about Gamestop employees at large. I've had plenty of pleasant conversations with a number of them.

It's just this particular one was a prick.

Also, LAURA BAILEY Y U VOICE SO SEXY?
  • When in Turkey, ROCK THE FUCK OUT
Maybe he was mad you bought Catherine because you could've gotten From Dust and Bastion instead.
  • OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!
Semi-related IJBM: I don't feel like I can get Catherine while I'm living in the same house with my parents.
  • MORONS! I'VE GOT MORONS ON MY PAYROLL!
Are they terribly offended by sex?
  • The PS3 cover is something.

    OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!
^^No, but all the consoles I have that can play it are hooked up to a shared TV and I'd feel really awkward.

^^ That one looks better than the cover in the OP.

Huh, most Gamestop employees I've encountered were pretty cool.

    But anyway, I'm with INUH.

^No it doesn't, but I don't think Catherine (blonde) looks attractive.
  • OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!
    ^^Thirded.
  • I prefer the first one, actually.
  • When in Turkey, ROCK THE FUCK OUT
The one in the OP doesn't even look like the main character.

MORONS! I'VE GOT MORONS ON MY PAYROLL!
    ^^^^^I'm fond of both, really.

^They're different characters. The X-box cover has Katherine, Vince's long-time girlfriend.

Also, the classical music remixes are blowing my mind.
  • OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!
Though the PS3 cover is another reason why I'd feel awkward having this game in my parents' house.

Never heard of this game.  What on Earth is it about?
  • Thane of rum-guzzling and necromancy

What an arsehole. Maybe badmouth Call of Duty or Halo or whatever hits his berserk button next time, serves him right. And rub it in his face that you're going to enjoy Catherine.

But lest we forget, Game stores are mostly staffed by people who play video games, and those that aren't must be pretty bizarre places. So you're bound to get some employees who are quite overt about their dislike of a particular genre. It makes gaming shops more lively than video game vending machines, and perhaps fun to troll IRL, in the right circumstances.

    That's because it's a different character.

    Ninja'd like whoa.
  • MORONS! I'VE GOT MORONS ON MY PAYROLL!
^^^A dude cheats on his girlfriend and has nightmares about it. It's better than it sounds.

Hm. Reminds me of when some people in Borders started ragging on Dungeons and Dragons stuff in the same general area as the comics and manga, while at the same time admitting to having watched the entirety of Fruits Basket, talking about how good Naruto and Bleach supposedly were that week, and smoeone mentioning how Liar Game is supposedly really deep (dunno if it is or not, but I've heard it compared to Death Note, so I doubt it).

Not that I mean to rag on Fruits Basket or Liar Game (though I'll gladly rag on the latter two examples above, given the chance), but really, I feel like liking FB is about equally as likely to get you shunned by a nerd-hater as liking D&D. And I was also annoyed at how they assumed that D&D was strictly cheesy high fantasy due to the cover art for the books and whatnot.

    /lolreciprocalnerdcondescension

But anyway, muttering "faggy anime games" under your breath isn't half as witty as "ooh, I'll roll up some mean monsters with this Monster Vault!", and it came from someone selling the game to a customer, so that's much worse.

Comparing Liar Game to Death Note is like comparing calculus to multiplication.

Do game stores tend to have policies about the opinions of their employees? You never hear of someone getting fired for ranting against a particular game.

^^ Good to know. It's just that that was about as much as I knew about the former.

MORONS! I'VE GOT MORONS ON MY PAYROLL!
^^^^Yeah, the part that got me was the utter lack of professionalism. Like if some jackass in line wearing a CoD shirt had said it, it probably would barely even registered. It's

^^The 'fag' comment would generally be considered a firing offense.
  • Creature - Florida Dragon Turtle Human
Someone should try to trade-in that one game that involves looking up girls skirts, whatever it was called.
  • Thane of rum-guzzling and necromancy

    ^^ Resident Evil 4?

Oh no, there was just Ashley, and that Umbrella lady.

  • Give us fire! Give us ruin! Give us our glory!
Even better, try trading in a copy of Rape Lay and see how they'd react.
  • Creature - Florida Dragon Turtle Human
No, there's this one game that someone cited when I cited idolmaster, as a game that's got a worse premise than idolmaster.  It involves doing something that very clearly results in looking up girls' skirts or undressing them or something.  I think it's for DS.
