    The #3 manga seems to vary from year to year but One Piece and Naruto are always #1 and #2.

    The TV Tropes article on it is amusing, in that it was obviously written about the demographicshounen,..

    Oh that FE unilaterally changed and it caused quite a stir.  I believe he also changed Shoujo to Shoujo Genre.

    He has since realized his mistake due to the aforementioned TRS thread. The only reason it hasn't been changed yet is because a few people are saying that it just absolutely can't be anything but "Shonen" with no additional words. At least, last I checked. It got heated enough that I left the thread.

    Why do people hate the main shonen trilogy (Naruto, Bleach, Death Note) so much?

    As stated before, the "Big Three" are Naruto, One Piece, and Bleach. People hate them because they're bad, popular and their fandoms are annoying... OK, maybe Bleach's fandom's fun, but the manga is very bad so it evens out.

    ^ Bleach, definitely. One Piece started out mediocre, eventually picked up, dropped a bit, peaked quite spectacularly, and has had steadily good quality since.

    It has gone on for forever (and plans on going on for at least as much forever) with minimal plot advancement, the arcs are formulaic as hell and plenty of them are basically canon filler, the characterization and character development is bad even by shonen standards, the humor is cringeworthy, the cartoonish artstyle clashes with the dramatic scenes...

    But hell, that's not even the most important part. Following weekly manga is mostly a social activity (which is in great part why so many people keep reading the damn things), and One Piece's fandom is the worst of the lot, making the experience significantly less enjoyable.

    Oh, from a business perspective, I have nothing but admiration for the kinds of Oda, Togashi and Miura. But from a story perspective, it kind of sucks.

    Being fully caught up on the series, I'm okay with that. Especially with every possibility there is.

    I can think of two that could count as filler, but not "plenty", and even the ultimately-inconsequential ones gave information.

    Since when? I know I don't watch what I watch, or read what I read, because I get to hang out with certain people and be in the loop.

    Though I agree that the fandom is very easy to hate.
