Why don't people use 24-hour time?

  • I am Dr. Ned who is totally not Dr. Zed in disguise.
A man walks into a clock shop, whips out his knob and puts it on the counter.

The girl behind the counter says, "Excuse me sir, this is a clock shop, not a cock shop."

To which the man replies, "That's okay, just put two hands and a face on this then."

You could actually simply make a little counter that flips between two states every time the hour hand hits 12.

They actually have clocks like that. The numbers higher than twelve are slightly smaller and placed in a ring inside the earlier numbers, corresponding to their 12-hour time.

I use 24-hour time, but to be honest I can't tell you why.
  • For some reason I have a hard time seeing a big advantage to 12- or 24-hour time.

I always figured it's one of those things that's just, y'know, different from place to place, like which side of the road you drive on.

Here's a better question: why are time units so random?
  • This meme must be revived.

Doing this would give us a unique number for every hour

    One for every hour.

^ They're meant to be divisible by lots of numbers.

Damn, how did I not see that?
  • You know, I actually counted the clocks on my wall the other day and found I have 24.

I considered making a thread about it, but I couldn't come up with anything more clever than "I have a clock for every hour!"
