No, really. The connection times out when I do it.

What browser (and version) do you use?

If you are using IE, try Firefox.  I say this because I know that I've had trouble when using IE with this site before.
  • I'm using Safari.

Weird.  Well, i don't have Safari, and I don't feel like grabbing it, Chrome, or Opera just to serve as this site's resident tech expert, so I dunno what the problem is.

That said, I'm using Epiphany right now and not having problems.  Yet at least.
  • I use Firefox, and that makes me 100% more special than the rest of the world.
  • I wish I used a weird web browser...

Well, sometimes I use lolifox (which despite being just Firefox with some addons, I guess sort of counts as a different browser), if I have need of using a sockpuppet on TVTropes that isn't Kuro Kagami or Ika Musume.

Otherwise, it's just Firefox (for regular browsing), Opera (for sockpuppeteering), and Chrome (for sockpuppets and also 4chan, since there's no Firefox version of the 4chan Plus extension)

I was using Epiphany out of necessity, not choice.  Old laptop with only 256 MB of RAM has about 50-60% of it taken up by the Ubuntu Linux operating system and Gnome interface, with another 20-30% taken up by Epiphany, more if I'm running Firefox, to the point where Firefox crashes when I try to load GMail.

And then if I even make one measly mistake of clicking on a page with lots of YouTube embeds...I'm not leaving until like 20 minutes later.

i'd have to figure out how to get it onto this computer.

This computer has no working CD drive.  The only way I can do this is using an external CD drive or a flash drive or external hard drive.  And I don't have an external CD drive, so that means I have to figure out how to install Ubuntu or whatever into bootable fashion on a stick.

And I barely know how to work aptitude.
  • @Tno: 4chan Plus.  Previously known as "Zoomify 4chan."  It has things like automatically refreshing pages (without causing a 404 if the thread got deleted), preloading pictures, and some other useful things.
  • Well, sometimes I use lolifox

Somehow, this does not surprise me.

It's actually just Firefox 2 only with some addons (Greasemonkey, Adblock Plus, DOM Inspector, and OpenDownload, so... useful addons), a different theme (which is... eh), and a bunch of RSS feeds and bookmarks, none of which I care for (and so I deleted).

I used Firefox 2 for years after Firefox 3 came out.  It was only when Youtube stopped supporting Firefox 2 (read: by causing gigantic bug where you can't read the video description) AND someone found me an add-on that could give me back the Firefox 2 style interface, that I switched.

@ funnyguts: I'll have to look into this.  Because I might need it to repair my mom's computer, which normally has XP but now can't boot for some unknown reason.
  • Hasn't FF 3 only been around for like a year?
  • *checks Wikipedia* Firefox 3.0 was released...June 17, 2008.

    Wow. I feel old now.

(I didn't care for 3.0 anyway, it was slow and crashy--at least on the computer I had at the time--though 3.5 was a huge improvement)
  • Creature - Florida Dragon Turtle Human
I switched shortly after Youtube stopped supporting Ff2 and bugged it--a move that I suspect was intentional, though I have no evidence either way.
  • Clearly, DYRE, the solution is for us to make sure the trademark has expired, then create our own bigger, better Lolifox based on Firefox 3. You know, just in time for Firefox 4 to come out.
  • Or, even better, base it on Firefox 5.  And then, by the time we finish making it, Firefox 5 might actually exist so we'll have something to base it on, and it still won't be outdated!

    ...or something.

Or, even better than even better, we could base it on Firefox ∞. That way we'd just have to slap it together once and it would be up-to-date for the rest of forever!
  • Great idea!

...but... it might be a while before we have anything to base it on...
  • OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!
So...did the OP's problem ever get resolved?
  • Presumably not, as he/she remains avatarless.

But we got a loli derail, so this thread wasn't totally pointless.
  • There have been remarkably few loli derails in this incarnation of IJBM.
  • OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!
That's because you're here, but not evilneko.
  • Because she won't join even though I asked her a couple times. :c
  • OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!
Aw. Maybe I should join in on the pestering.
  • Unless pestering her about it just makes her annoyed and even less likely to join...

Unless they decide to go the Google Chrome route and up the entire version number every time they add a feature.

Also, the word "pestering" now makes me think of Homestuck. What's happening to me?

Assuming the OP is on Mac since they're using Safari, how about trying Opera?  Anyone know if this site works on Opera?

I can ask my web guru friend UnknownEntity634, since I got him to join the site even though he hasn't posted yet.  He has a ton of web browsers mainly for testing purposes.

Re loli derails: I'm still disappointed that no one ever derails about Sky Girls.  Though technically they're not lolis.
  • I'm still disappointed that no one ever derails about Sky Girls.

I still haven't watched it, so... yeah. I could derail threads into talking about how awesome I think the song "Virgin's High" is, but other than that I know absolutely nothing about the show.
  • Creature - Florida Dragon Turtle Human
    You actually like it?

I thought it was meh.  Well, it would fit the show nicely if the show were actually an action-packed series.  Because that's basically the intro video--aerial combat, pilots briskly and confidently walking down a hallway, Otoha running out a door, all set to a pretty metal song with thumping bass.

And then I got whole episodes of ghost stories and oversized bra owner determination.
