I try to avoid hype...

...but goddamnit, Skyrim is unavoidable!

  • I actually haven't heard anyone hyping Skyrim.

Which is good, because that would make me want to buy it, and there's no way my laptop would be able to play it.
  • OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!
I haven't either. My roommate mentioned that it looked like it'd be good, but that's it.
  • No, not really.

That said, from what little I've heard about Skyrim, I actually am pretty much the opposite of excited about it.
  • OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!
What makes you say that? From what I've heard, it'll be improving on pretty much all of Oblivion's failures.

Er... I dunno, really.  None of the things I've heard about it seem terribly... necessary, and it just seems like Bethesda is, yet again, trying to make something a lot... bigger, I guess... than they can really handle.

That said, user-created mods should fix any problems with the game (or possibly, should make the game actually playable), as was the case with Oblivion and Morrowind and Fallout 3.

Really? It seems to me that they're focusing more on fixing stuff like the ugly faces, the radiant AI failure and the creepy stares during dialogue while making the nonlinearity work a bit better.
  • The only hype I've heard about it was from that Harry Partridge video.

^^^ I dunno.  Basically, it's just that I have absolutely no faith in Bethesda whatsoever when it comes to making a good, polished, playable game.  Fallout 3 was a lot better than Oblivion in that regard, so I guess Skyrim might be alright too, but... who knows?  Anyway I guess it doesn't matter too much, because like I said, as long as the engine and modding tools are good enough, modders will fix most of the problems with the game anyway, so... yeah.

Though none of this changes the fact that I won't be able to play it anyway, so I think I'd rather remain unexcited.

  • Is it teh gay yet?

    or is it mehsome?
  • Creature - Florida Dragon Turtle Human
    What is "teh gay"?
  • To clarify: I mean that I try to avoid looking into the press surrounding new releases, because I think it'll cloud my perception. But curiosity is getting the best of me this time.
  • "Something horrible that people will force themselves to like."
  • Creature - Florida Dragon Turtle Human
I thought "teh gay" was a communicable disease carried by gay people, which is easily transmitted by hanging out with them.  Which is why no straight men should ever hang out with gay men, because they have a magical aura of gayness that straight men, especially straight young men, are extremely vulnerable to.
  • To be or not to be? That is the question.
I have heard of Skyrim before. I wanted to play it, but I don't have a high end computer.

That, and I'm more interested in Shooting Games.
