What I mean by that is that a lot of male singing nowadays is this strange, warbly, gay-sounding, Clay Aiken-sounding mess that sounds identical from singer-to-singer. How did this end up happening?

  • This is because you're listening to pop music.
  • It's because guys are horrible at singing and should GTFO out of my symphonic metal.
  • Dude, there are some awesome male singers. Usually they're baritones, though.

The only age bracket gender group that I have never heard a good singer from is young girls. They always sound annoying. Boy singers can sound absolutely amazing. Women can sound good, too, if they know what they're doing. Old people sometimes have the experience behind their voice, and the little bit of gravel that may come up is sometimes a good thing.
  • I guess it just depends on what they are singing too.

The thing is, I couldn't sing like this if I tried. Is there some kind of special training to reach this state of mediocrity or what?
