Adventure games.

Why are they popular? [I actually have no idea if they are or not, also i'm specifically referring to point-and-click games but that wouldn't be as snowclone-looking]

I've tried playing them, and they are impossible. This isn't the "fun" kind of hard. This is the "stupid" kind of hard. I feel as if I'm never getting better. And that's why they're annoying. Because no matter how often I play, I keep sucking. It feels as if I'm not even in control of anything, [not actually true i'm just terrible at finding particular details in a mess that I didn't make] as if I've hit a brick wall I cannot get past. This isn't fun. This is bullshit.

Especially when the game gets to be brutally difficult in like the second level.

They were very popular in the nineties. Now, they have a bit of a revival going, but they're still fairly niche.

Anyway, I'm no good at adventure games either; it took me ages to even discover the map screen in the original Monkey Island. With the case of LucasArts games, though, the draw for me isn't the gameplay or the puzzles, it's the storyline and jokes.
  • MORONS! I'VE GOT MORONS ON MY PAYROLL!
They were popular back in the day because they tended to be the ones with the best writing .See stuff like Day of The Tentacle and Monkey Island. With writing become at least marginally better in gamings, with some genuine masterpieces of storytelling like Silent Hill 2 and Red Dead Redemption out there it's clear we don't need the sacrifice.

We're getting revivals because of nostalgia really.

Which reminds me I should play the Sherlock Holmes Vs. Cthulhu game...

    OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!
^^Out of curiosity, have you played 999? The last bit just made me wonder.
  • ^ Never heard of it.
  • OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!
It's a visual novel/ adventure game combo for DS. Very good. The full title is "Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors."

  • MORONS! I'VE GOT MORONS ON MY PAYROLL!
It's available on Steam. It's called Sherlock Holmes: The Awakened. There's also an anthology of stories along those lines called Shadows Over Baker Street. It's good and has a Neil Gaiman story in it.
  • You can change. You can.
    Welp, that does it.

-starts training to become a priest as God's existence has been proven to him-
  • MORONS! I'VE GOT MORONS ON MY PAYROLL!
And K-On! is getting another season! Hallowed be the nerdy Christ!
  • You can change. You can.
    Really?

    -starts reading LaVey's books-
  • ^ Nah man, LaVey's a poser. Here's what you should be looking into:

  • You can change. You can.
    God. His eyes. HIS EYES
  • MORONS! I'VE GOT MORONS ON MY PAYROLL!
Also, Anton LaVey's Satanism isn't strictly devil-worship. It's more akin to objectivism with robes and goats.
  • You can change. You can.
Eh, I just didn't know of any other high profile satanist, so I went with the known guy.
  • "Humans are so damn weird...good thing I'm a werewolf "

    Never change youtube.

    Never change.
  • You can change. You can.
    Youtube...Youtube never changes.
  • If that was true what's with the interface.
  • MORONS! I'VE GOT MORONS ON MY PAYROLL!
Also does anybody find it weird that stories about callous gods whose very existence brings us to the edge of sanity are what convince Juan of the existence of Christ?
  • You can change. You can.
If that was true what's with the interface.

    Because Youtube...Youtube never changes.

Also does anybody find it weird that stories about callous gods whose very existence brings us to the edge of sanity are what convince Juan of the existence of Christ?

    Lol.

But it's the Sherlock Holmes part what draws me in.
  • Likes cheesecake unironically.
Adventure games involve thinking. It's little wonder that many people have problems with them.

Which reminds me I should play the Sherlock Holmes Vs. Cthulhu game...

I remember that one. The only Sherlock Holmes game, I ever finished. It was pretty nice but nothing really great.
