I downloaded a banned Pokemon episode

Kichigai birthday!!
It was the Jamestits one.

My problem with it is that the translators decided it would be a good idea to just use the 4kids version of the episode and add the japanese censored scenes subbed. It ends up sounding very awkward. Besides, for some reason they use the English audio but Japanese visuals (the signs are in Japanese, and 4kids used to edite those)

  • When in Turkey, ROCK THE FUCK OUT
I thought it would be the seizure episode.
  • Kichigai birthday!!
I saw that one in a /vp/ stream a while ago, so don't need of downloading.

Now to see if I can finde the Safari Zone one
  • OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!
4kids wasn't editing the signs yet at that point. There's also a scene early in the series that features Brock holding a rice ball which he keeps calling a doughnut.
  • Has friends besides tanks now
^ Oh yeah, I remember that. XD
  • The "delete any reference to anything Japanese" thing always seemed vaguely racist to me.

Also, don't kids usually love foreign things?
  • Depending on age, they might not know that foreign things exist.
  • They didn't edit references to Japanese things because they're racist, they did it because their target audience wouldn't understand the references.
  • No they did it because they severely underestimated their audience. Seriously, what kid isn't going to understand what a fucking Rice Ball is? The name is self explanatory!
  • What's even better, is that a lot of people on youtube went "This confused the hell out of me when I was a kid".

^^ Well, okay, they thought their target audience wouldn't get it.  The point is it's not racism.

And as for changing the names, that presumably had more to do with the fact that Ash Ketchum is a more memorable name to American kids than Satoshi.  And also 'cause puns.
