Yeah, most buses only have the door on one side, because the other would open into traffic and people are only boarding from the sidewalk anyway.

  • If you must eat a phoenix, boil it, do not roast it. This only encourages their mischievous habits.

    Or in Australia.

    See, now you're just lying.

Most interstate buses, and the Jones Bros buses in at least Central NSW and the ACT, have buses on both sides because the door on the right-hand side is an emergency exit door for if the bus crashes.

  • Oh I'm sorry I had forgotten Bathurst was only slightly less backwards than Queensland.

Cities don't tend to have them on both sides. Probably due to the opening onto traffic thing, or because the bus driver sits across from the door, or because we usually just break the windows and go out of those in event of a crash.

Yeah the last bus I was on had removable windows all freaking over the place, and the back of the bus is a door itself (that we frequently had to use loading drums during jazz/symphonic band).  I doubt it would have been wanting for emergency exits.

I guess I could understand if the bus was going between countries where the traffic lane changed left/right, but not a lot of buses do that.

I meant to say doors up there. Not buses.

    IT KEEPS HAPPENING

  • Dilbert is probably the funniest newspaper comic currently in print, I believe. It's my favorite, along with Foxtrot. (Though there really isn't much competition in the field, newspaper comics are just lame in general, these are just the exceptions.)

  • Pretty much.  Oh, and for a change of pace, an image that I probably will use in the future:

  • Has friends besides tanks now

    >Yui picture

    New desktop background. Thanks, Juan!

  • You can change. You can.

thank Charlatan, not me. I'm just the messenger.

  • You can change. You can.

  • Has friends besides tanks now

The only thing that ever bugged me about that scene in K-On! is that Yui's cheek looks so funny.

  • MORONS! I'VE GOT MORONS ON MY PAYROLL!

wasn't she eating something or somesuch?

  • Has friends besides tanks now

Probably; what do the characters of that show do but eat all the time? I dunno. I hope so, but I don't remember if there was really anything in that scene to indicate that she was eating.

  • It seems anime is just as redundant now as it was then, though.

  • It's obvious that the progression in anime is from talking about the concrete such as dog food, as shown in Legend of the Galactic Heroes, to talking about the abstract, like fun things, as shown in K-On!!!!!!!.

  • Also, film grain.

  • "Fun things are fun" doesn't really sound nearly as stupid as people seem to think it is.  It's redundant, but if you have to explain why you like fun things in the first place, of course it's going to sound redundant, since things that are fun are enjoyable by default.

  • You can change. You can.

It's a tautology, though. And if I recally correctly, even in context, it is pretty dumb and supposed to come off as Yui not being the sharpest knife in the kitchen.

  • Maybe.  I don't really remember that scene very well.  It's been a while the last time I watched K-ON! (like... half a year or something.  I clearly need to watch it again at least once before the BD for the movie comes out), and it is true that Yui's an idiot...

  • You can change. You can.

It's been...pretty much five-six months for me as well. which makes no sense because i'm pretty sure you had already watched that by then, huh.

  • edited 2012-02-18 23:57:38

Well I've watched the first season of K-ON! like 3 or 4 times so far.  So the first few times would have been before you watched it.

I just didn't remember that scene much mostly because I never actually realized it was a meme until recently and there are plenty of other scenes that stood out a lot more.

^ My mother had a textbook like that.  A discussion of optics briefly devolved into one of vampires.

This is dumb as hell, but I laughed nonetheless.
