Glee's Cover of Friday

edited 2011-07-07 21:24:06 in Media

Before people mistake this for an It Just Awes Me, I'm disappointed I didn't find out about this sooner. Friday really is the new MacArthur Park; that bizarrely bad song everyone wants to cover. Though the covers add more musical variety to make it work, thus removing the worst thing about the original song (the creepy monotone that makes her sound and look like a machine).

Wikipedia's talk page sums it up best for both songs:

"It reminds me of Charlie Brown's scrawny little Christmas tree, where other people come along and manage to add enough stuff to it to make it a regular Christmas tree."

Would it be bad to say that I totally expected you to like Glee?

The singing on that show makes me feel like my ears are getting tap dancing lessons from a well-oiled guy named Tobey, even when the girls are singing.

I don't know. Why did you expect me to like it? Cause I'm in it for the Narm Charm / Bile Fascination.

Okay, then. As long as you don't actually think it's a great show.
  • HAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAH.

    ...

    OK. Now I'm insulted.

    >Implying I would think Glee has good unironic quality
  • >Implying you don't think it's awesome
    >>Implying you don't have shit taste
    >>Implying this is 4chan
  • You can change. You can.
    >>Implying this is 4chan

    > Implying we're not its sexy cousin.
    > Implying > Implying works without green.

    >>Implying you don't have shit taste

    Says the Itsuki fan.

    >Implying you don't think it's awesome

Oh come on! We all know you sing their "Don't stop Believing" cover when nobody's looking.
  • Don't ever greentext with that particular shade of green again, please.
  • Says the Itsuki fan.
Oh please, who'd you prefer? The deluded tsundere? The totally-not-ten-years-old (she has boobs!) moeblob? The rei-clone? Kyon is admittedly cool, but he's nowhere as fabulous or as big a troll as Itsuki.

Nope, that's their worst cover. Though I do enjoy some of the mashups.
  • I thought No Air was their worst cover...
  • Fuck if I know, I don't watch the show.
  • You can change. You can.
Don't ever greentext with that particular shade of green again, please.

    No, suffer.

    Nope, that's their worst cover.

    Welp, you're good to...

Though I do enjoy some of the mashups.

    Heresy.

I prefer the weird blue haired girl who tries to kill them all, thank you very much.

Oh, the generic yandere/gire/whatever, good choice.
  • You can change. You can.
Hey, at least she dislikes that merry band of fuck ups as much as I do. :P

The only good thing to ever come out of Glee.
  • $80+ per session
I love Glee unironically. I think it's a great show about a bunch of losers.
  • You can change. You can.
I prefer Community. Far more entertaining, in my opinion.

Would you believe me if I said that I expected you to post just to agree with me?

    Anyway, highfive, mofo.

Glee just appeals to a few of my key likes.
  • You can change. You can.
I'm not saying that liking Glee is particularly wrong. It just doesn't appeal to me the way Community does.
  • You...you actually understand me, Juan. I'm touched.

I also genuinely enjoy Glee, mostly for the music because I'm a big cover-song whore.

I've found though that I can't follow the TV Tropes thread about Glee, since it's about 200 pages of Blaine x Kurt fangirling.
  • Pretty much. And one Kurtofsky fan.
