"The mocap in L.A. Noir worked great for everything except helping you tell when someone was lying"

Au contraire, random person who I know said this but I can't remember the name of. It's helped me a lot, and I'm not even very good at reading people in real life.

And I know it has Adventure Game elements, I could not give less of a fuck.

If I want to play a good sandbox game, I play Grand Theft Auto IV.

If I want to play a fun sandbox game, I play Saints Row 2.
  • I don't think this game really counts as a sandbox. But I do not give a fuck about that either, because I like this game.
  • MORONS! I'VE GOT MORONS ON MY PAYROLL!
Well, if you could, good for you. I wasn't able to read their overacting so well.

Also, it ends up forgoing any actual adventure game elements for a really stupid shoot-em-up ending.

I really do like the game as well. Although I share the same sentiments as ^; as much as I like shooters, there are times and places for them. I don't play L.A. Noire to shoot up a town. I play Saints Row 2 to do that.

Also, the open-world element serves no purpose whatsoever except to be penalized by clunky car driving.
  • You just check to see if they're looking away or swallowing a lot when it asks you whether you think they're lying or not. It's not rocket science.

They tried so hard to make sure even autistic people could detect when someone was lying that the actors look ridiculous.

*gulps a gallon of air* Well, you don't have any proof that LA Noire is good game! *rolls eyes dramatically*
  • >random person who I know said this but I can't remember the name of.

It was the Extra Credits video about race in games.

I concur. Don't worry; the people complaining about how it was too hard to tell if somebody was lying are probably the same ones who keep buying Modern Warfare over and over again each year.

^ Man, you could win gold at the Olympic long-jump with that kind of leap.

MORONS! I'VE GOT MORONS ON MY PAYROLL!
Yeah, but the line between doubt or lie is hardly visible. Pro-tip: always accuse the person of lying because you can back out of it and if they are they'll say something like 'I'll bet you don't have an evidence I'm actually Heinrich Himmler'. That logic has nothing to do with the mo-cap, though, and it makes Cole PH31P5 seem mental.

^^Hi, I hold that opinion and I don't even play shooters. Next Strawman please.

^^ Man, you could too. I'm glad we're such a nice online community as to take the time to admire each others' personal achievements.
  • ^^ Zero Punctuation?
  • MORONS! I'VE GOT MORONS ON MY PAYROLL!
^Yeah, that's where fan nickname Cole PH31P5 comes from.

Goddamnit, I still think this is a good game and one that I would gladly spend my money on, had I bought it instead of getting it as a gift.

MORONS! I'VE GOT MORONS ON MY PAYROLL!
Well you're free to your opinion. If you're enjoying it, who are we to tell you otherwise?

Also, I think the mocap would be good for Bioware to use to avoid their infamous bioware face.
  • You people have successfully made me like it less.

    >:(
  • MORONS! I'VE GOT MORONS ON MY PAYROLL!
Does that mean we win? =D
  • When in Turkey, ROCK THE FUCK OUT
^^ But I like it too. What did I do wrong?
  • I was all ready to pat myself on the back for being able to read people better, and then Inkblot had to go and ruin it.

Yeah, it's really not that hard to detect when someone's lying (keep in mind, the most egregiously overacted stuff during the pause where you pick truth/doubt/lie was added in fairly late in production as a charity, and if you can't figure those out, I'm deeply sorry).

    Hint -- look at eyes.

The only wonky part is that you can't re-ask questions and that makes a branched case outright lock you out of critical bits if you do it in the wrong arbitrary order and don't have the right evidence when questioning the right person.
  • Yeah, why do you assume that I won't interrogate the husband just because I caught the guy he hired to kill his wife before I drove over to the station? WHY GAME
