How America seems to be completely and utterly fucked.

I may just be reading two much OTC, but this thread seems relatively calm and orderly, and the things being said in it...holy fuck the GOP is insane (though I never really saw why living in a Corporation-run government seemed that bad, except for the lack of competition), and America may just slide into a massive depression while China Takes Over The World.

Though, I'm not sure why a CTOTW situation is that bad. Conservatives act like it's the end of the world.

    Probably.
  • Till shade is gone, till water is gone, into the Shadow with teeth bared, screaming defiance with the last breath, to spit in Sightblinder’s eye on the last Day.
    I knew who-

WHAT THE FUCK YOU AREN'T TNU

Also, OTC is stupid.  Don't listen to OTC.

DeMint will use that political muscle to oppose fellow Republicans who don't stand firm on the debt ceiling issue. He said he will not support any candidate for Congress -- incumbent or challenger -- who does not sign a pledge promising not to vote for a debt limit increase without first passing a balanced budget amendment, making deep spending cuts and putting strict limits on future government spending. The same rule applies to presidential candidates.

    It's not so bad!  ♥

  • OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!
I don't think CTOTW is likely. They're about to face a massive aging population crisis -- possibly one of the worst ones any country ever has.

The GOP is full of corporatist, cronyist, state capitalist, Neocon, Militarist, theocratic nutjobs. There are no true laissez-faire supporters in there except for maybe a very small minority (Ron Paul for example). and most of the ones that are still laissez-faire with few exceptions are still theocratic social conservatives. The left isn't any better as far as I can see they're not all they appear to be to most. They tend to get involved in social issues specifically in the name of political correctness and "for the children" reasons. As well as a lot of red tape, beurocracy, and regulation.

Also Forzare that was pretty humorous to tell the truth. Though I’ve been avoiding this subject matter even though I become very tempted to make it. Just seems a bit too soon for me to get in to get in to the subject.

  • Give us fire! Give us ruin! Give us our glory!
Laissez-faire is the last thing America needs right now. And before you say that I'm a Socialist advocating complete Government seizure of all freedom and property, I'm not. Both sides give too much power to those who can abuse it.
  • Give us fire! Give us ruin! Give us our glory!
    More or less.
  • I still don't get it honestyly. form what I see you ahve Pure Capitalism all the way on one end then you have cronyism, then state capitalism, then corporatism, then socialism, then fascism, then state communism.
  • no longer cuddly, but still Edmond
Also, OTC is stupid. Don't listen to OTC.

For that matter, don't get your politics from a website where people spot tenuous patterns in works of fiction.
  • Give us fire! Give us ruin! Give us our glory!
Don't get your politics from a website period.

Is getting politics from George Orwell all right?
  • I'd say so. I get a good deal of mine from him.

Really? He's a democratic socialist with anarchist sympathies.
  • Yeah but most of his work i'm quite fond of. Though I don't see how anarchism and socialism are at all compatible.
  • Does it matter if the GOP's insane? People believe that both parties are the same and that won't change no matter what the GOP does.
  • You're right Inkblot. that's one thing Chomsky was right about.
  • "Though I don't see how anarchism and socialism are at all compatible."

    Read Homage to Catalonia then.

  • I'll take a look. Just that kind of mkaes no sense socialism requires the force of a centralized state.
  • As far as I'm concerned. Both parties are almost entirely bought and congress is nothing but Good Cop/Bad Cop.

    See this right here?

Publicly, I would rate this country as a Right Wing Utopia.

    In reality?

Corporate Police State masquerading as "Democracy"
  • The US is nowhere near a Corporate Police State. If anything, it's closer to a Corporate Bordello.
  • So in other words Fascism? Also right-wing just as left-wing are not inherently bad thigns on their own there are good aspects of both ideals. usually anything that borrows from Classical Liberalism in my book. But yeah we're starting to look pretty Fascist.
  • It's still a democracy. If the people wanted to replace every person in Congress, they could. Everything politicans do is for the sake of getting enough money and support from the people.

This isn't a corporate oligarchy. This is a democracy whose people don't give a fuck.
  • rrepublic not democracy.

    CRIMINAL SCUM!
^^^^ Hardly seems right considering how little political freedom we really seem to have. Most elections just tend to be smoke screen and mirrors where elections get bought off.

Welcome to human nature. There will always be people abusing the system, no matter what happens.

Yes even in a socialist system profit seeking is inevitable. There is no true altruism and no grand system or good system. People will always seek high ranking positions in the government and they will always seek to profit from the people.
  • I am Dr. Ned who is totally not Dr. Zed in disguise.
    ther eis no true altruism
    In general?
  • Yeah in general but especially in politics.
