    I hardly ever see the popular = good opinion anywhere on TVT or IJBM.

    And do you see the "popular = bad" a lot? Mind pointing to some examples?

    Any prominent female pop singer (Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, Ke$ha, etc. even if they are that bad [which they probably are], the backlash against them is kind of ridiculous), most genres, whatever songs are on the top 40, etc.

    I think you're confusing "popular = bad" with "popular + bad = worse". And even then, except for a few select places, that's hardly a frequent thing, I'd "people just hate it because its popular" is more prevalent.
