Noticing a typo in your own post a few minutes after you've posted it

edited 2011-06-29 21:33:45 in Webspace
I can either leave it alone,  and let my own mistake drive me insane, or fix the typo, leaving an edit stamp on the post that will drive other people insane wondering why I changed my post 5 or 10 minutes after I posted it.

I edit my posts hours, months, years, whatever, after I post them.  No problem.  Though generally not for spelling, since I usually notice that pretty quickly.

    ^^ I do that :/
  • OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!
You have two spaces between the first comma and "and" :P
  • (Admittedly, there have been times where I've edited posts months after the fact, because I moved files around on my Dropbox/Photobucket/whatever and I need to obsessively fix the links)

  • People edit often enough that I usually don't get suspicious. If they only have one word in their post, though, that raises eyebrows. Still, that edit stamp is terribly tacky and makes me feel instinctively guilty. Why is it necessary?

I wish the edit stamp was gone, too. It's so ugly. >:[
  • I dislike the edit stamp, but after the Solstace incident I can see why it was deemed necessary.

Though I wish it didn't have to be italicized, it's small enough that that bascially turns it into an unreadable scribble.

    Jesus...

Some people want it back too >:|

I edit my older posts on here for no reason other than to make the text pretty colors like it should be. And comic sans, if it is especially non-serious in tone.
  • I edit them seconds after posting, there's usually something I just wasn't able to catch. In fact, I've read this post thoroughly and you'll probably see an edit stamp on it anyway.

    Also, Solstace incident?

Sometimes I completely change the contents of my post, which has the side effect of making the thread a bit incoherent.
  • But you never had any to begin with.
Basically, Stormtroper, Solstace found a method of editing other people's posts. Not sure of the specifics, though.
