Yae or nay?

I have no opinion, as I never visited the fetishes thread.

  • Make a separate section so I can avoid it and feel superior to you guys and your sick perversions.
  • I'll vote yes if you can list ten or more things you would put in it.

    (except I won't)
  • But you never had any to begin with.
Fetishes: Nein. A separate sex category may make sense, however.

yea i make potions if ya know what i mean
Yes for Sex Category, and I guess a nay for Fetishes Thread, as we have one already offsite.

Harsh No. Use the categories we already have.
  • A sex category sounds fine, but we already have Fetishes back in Yack Fest so there's no point in recreating it.

But isn't sexual content against the host's terms of service?
  • Well I don't think we here need a thread for "this is what we like", though discussion of human sexuality sounds like it might be kosher.
  • yea i make potions if ya know what i mean
"But isn't sexual content against the host's terms of service?"

No, this was clarified earlier. It's allowed to have sex discussion, it just won't be publicly listed. Which is probably a good thin.

    Hell nay.

"Make a separate section so I can avoid it and feel superior to you guys and your sick perversions."

    Oh the irony.

    Loser
I vote no for both given that we already have a fetishes thread on TV Tropes and I am not really a fan of discussions of sexual stuff. I am okay with talking about topics related to it (i.e. threads about if pornography is sexist or otherwise bad and topics about censorship) though.

I basically agree with what Anonus said too. I do not really want to hear about personal stuff, but the broad topic itself does not seem like it should be completely off limits to me.

However, I realize that I am just one user here and I still stick around if there was a sexual category of the forums. I just personally would rather not have one.

    Keep it in a thread.

Even if it is contained in a category, most of us will still want to be using "view all", and having such a sub-fora might encourage us to head towards /b/-dom. And plus, even dodging it, the category "sex" will still be emblazoned on the screen.
  • But you never had any to begin with.
What an odd mental image. "What do you eat for breakfast?" "Sex." "...What?"
  • It's obscenity we don't like. Why the two go hand in hand so often is beyond me, though.
  • What I mean is it is obscene "usually". But there's nothing inherently that way about it.
  • ~♥YES♥~! I *AM* a ~♥cupcake♥~! ^_^
I'd really like it kept in a thread. Derails in other threads are OK, just not a slew of such threads.
  • It'd just be Fetishes again. Supposing you awaken from a wet dream you are deperate to share with your friends. Which thread do you post in? Alternate between the two? post in both? Its market has already been cornered. It's like putting two Starbucks right next to eachother.
  • BigNo. Sex Section please.
  • yea i make potions if ya know what i mean
    "

So are you going to ban cussing too?
  • No cussing club!

But yeah, you guys have the TvTropes thread. This is for the crap that we couldn't save.
  • cussing isn't obscene.
  • ~♥YES♥~! I *AM* a ~♥cupcake♥~! ^_^
I can live with the swearing. IJBM was awesome because it was everything /b/ could be, but minus the sleaze.

I'd like to keep that quality.

  • yea i make potions if ya know what i mean
    "
    cussing isn't obscene."

    lolwut.

" IJBM was awesome because it was everything /b/ could be, but minus the sleaze."

    lolwut (again)

I'm fine with people not wanting a sex subforum, but the reasons I've seen so far are odd.

Cussing isn't "obscene". It's "indecent". According to the Supreme Court per Carlin's routine at least. Dunno what it's like in Canada where we're hosted though.

Meh, I'll make a list of my reasons:

    • I wouldn't be able to safely "view all conversations".
    • It could attract trouble.
    • I would like the board to stay nice and SFW.
    • Someone may cross the line (a troll violating terms of service or posting smut).
    • We never had such a thing before, and we were fine then.
    • We can still talk about it here and there, we just don't need thousands of threads with dirty titles.
    • I don't want it to happen ever.
    That's just about everything.
  • yea i make potions if ya know what i mean
Why am I surprised that there's a legal distinction between "obscene" and "indecent"?
  • I am assuming that it is good in moderation. No shoehorning fuck into every single sentence you make.

  • Because you never know what you might see.
I don't really care whether we discuss it here or not, but making a separate category for it seems kinda immature.

But we are immature, so it's fine.
  • yea i make potions if ya know what i mean
"I wouldn't be able to safely "view all conversations"."

If we get a philosophy section, neither will I.
    • "It could attract trouble."
So could a lot of things.

"I would like the board to stay nice and SFW."

That's not very likely to happen.

"Someone may cross the line (a troll violating terms of service or posting smut)."

    Could easily happen anyway.

"We never had such a thing before, and we were fine then."

True that we've never had one before, but the endless complaining about the subject leads me to believe it was far from "fine".

"We can still talk about it here and there, we just don't need thousands of threads with dirty titles."

I don't see a thousand threads with dirty titles, I see maybe a dozen.

"I don't want it to happen ever."

    That's not a reason.
