  • It's stuff like that that makes me uneasy about identifying as a "fan" of anything.
  • Well, it's just the opinions of everyone else that ruin things for me.

    I don't mind fans...
  • Other peoples' opinions kind of ruin things for me too.
And I guess they shouldn't but they still do.

Though, not usually for things I already like.
  • So in-arguments on which loli is better don't annoy you, or the Fan Dumb of KnJ?
  • I've never argued with someone about which loli is better, I don't think...

Though, Kojika sure has a hell of a Fan Dumb if TV Tropes is any indication.  And that does annoy me a lot, actually.  It doesn't influence my opinion on the series itself though.
  • OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!
It is kind of the sort of series you'd expect to have Fan Dumb.

Yeah.  What bugs me is that they are mostly the kind of people who are ridiculously insecure about reading Kojika so they have to go and act like it's some super deep, philosophical, grimdark story about how the school system in Japan sucks and whatnot, and it's not just a manga about a girl who wants to have sex with her teacher.  Pro tip: It's an ecchi comedy.
  • OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!
It does have some rather dark moments, but yeah, it's a comedy first.

I'm not insecure about reading it, but I wouldn't do so in public.

It's not something I'd read in public if by public you mean like, lots of people behind you that'd definitely be able to see, but that's pretty much just since it's an ecchi series...  If by public you just mean there's people around then I do read it in public sometimes.  If I happen to be in public when I find out that there's a new chapter.

That said, I don't usually go around telling people IRL that I read it, for various reasons.  Though sometimes I do end up mentioning it anyway.
  • Most anime series have unbearable fan dumbs, while their hate dumb is far more annoying.

Mostly because they only exist on the internet, and get their ammo from ED and 4chan.
  • I guess the only solution for you is to move to Japan then.  Or just be really choosy about who you discuss your favorite anime with.  You like FLCL, right?  I love (what I've seen of) that show, and I'm only moderately stupid!
  • Move? To JAPAN?

Ha, if I wanted to be around people who hated me for stupid reasons I would move to Nevada.

The Japanese would hate you?  Why?!  Do they hate Amricans there or something?  Oh man, this totally ruins my plans to visit Japan.

Edit:  And is there any particular reason they'd hate you in Nevada?  Is it some weird state rivalry or something?
  • OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!
Pretty much every nationality hates Americans.
  • Something about "gaijin" and not liking foreigners for some strange reason. Probably because they are annoying.
  • -spit takes-  Wha?!  POOP!  Not only will I never get to see Japan, but now I feel bad knowing that half of my favorite media are by people who hate me!
  • They like our money, but they hate our fans of said works who only go over there to desu, and not respect the culture for what it is.
  • OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!
Oddly, I wanted to learn Japanese long before I became an anime and video game fan.
  • Hmm.  I've heard that they tend to get pretty snarky about it when someone actually tries to learn more about their culture, though.  Man, my entire image of the country is ruined now.  If I go there with plenty of money will people like me?
  • I thought that was true everywhere.
  • Well, there are exceptions, like Amish country and such.
