I am beginning to worry about this a bit.

Sure, this is what causes the "stockpile for the apocalypse" situation where people hide in underground bunkers, or seal up their house and shoot people who get too close, but generally I worry about how much shit I have.

I have too much to carry, and I devote hundreds of dollars to shit that won't keep me alive, like posters, manga, yugioh cards, stylish clothing, video games, aquarium maintenance, and the like. I am not going to be carrying around that crap with me when this house suddenly becomes inhabitable or the town I live in becomes filled with crazy Fallout-style raiders after they realize that the only way they can possibly get food and gas is to take it for free. There are a lot of crazy people who depend on drugs and alcohol to keep sane, and once reality settles in that all of their material posessions don't mean shit, they might go nuts.

Which is why I bought some canned fish today. It tastes good, and doesn't expire until 2018.

No, I won't be turning into a crazy nutjob hiding in the basement with a shotgun or a "THE END IS NIGH" apocalypse maiden ready to kill people with a sniper rifle to eat them, but I do want to prepare for food shortages once bread begins to get too expensive to purchase fuck bread, it barely lasts 2 weeks before getting bad and there's almost nothing in it for you other than fiber. Rice and beans are better.

I can't eat my laptop, or use it for anything useful when I have no electricity. It can't filter water. Although I should print off some important stuff before my electricity goes kapoof and I will have to generate my own.

    You shouldn't. In the very extreme case something like this would happen, you (and almost everyone) wouldn't be properly prepared, equipped or trained to deal with the situation in any meaningful way.

    Well I guess you are right. It just felt un-nerving, that's all. One part of me says it won't happen, and one part of me is telling me to prepare for difficulties and food shortages/seizures that way I won't be pissed off at myself for not saving for important things.

    Vorpy you're awesome. in the event that this does happen you're the new Monarch (if not you then I nominate Bob).  though Honestly I hope the apocalypse takes me down. I'm a pessimist and don't see value in the world the way it is much less after the end. Also as far as i'm concerned in my country Money is already worthless due to an inflationary monetary policy and printing trillions of worthless  paper money from the3 federal reserve to give handouts and devalue the dollar.

    See, Ian, the brilliant thing about being armed with and trained in the sword in an environment where guns are extremely scarce is that I can just acquire supplies when needed at any point.

    Anyway, I don't know what I'd do in this situation. Maybe dig myself a hole in some forest and shoot anyone who comes near. And once I run out of bullets, I'll build a makeshift bow and arrow.

    Well assuming I do find a like minded group, I wouldn't be idealistic enough to assume pacifism would ideally hold out so you could be guard/trainer in exchange for food.

    Also before the huge crash of society, I'd print off a lot of survival information, and laminate it.
    Also common injuries and such, also common illnesses in animals as at some point there would need to be farming knowledge.

    Swords can't kill wild animals from a reasonable without scaring them or alerting them of your presence, which is a major drawback. But hey, if you do want to exhert the freedoms of killing people with swords, then go right ahead.
