This mindset irritates me. It's very evident in the local news business, when a station touts how much news they air/the mere fact they do, without suggesting any sort of actual quality.

(Incidentally, the first version of this thread was just about that; I now know this is too much of a problem to be such a niche thread)

It is generally a pretty lame sentiment, yes. Unfortunately it's also quite common in today's world.
