Random Thoughts is becoming more and more like The View
In that a lot of talking goes on, but precious little actually gets said.

k', fine.
But I still think he complains about it way too much.
This is unsurprising.

If I
didn't know that you are talking about random thoughts, I'd think you
talk about IJBM.
Although, while I do post my thoughts there, they are rarely random.
"Post your random thoughts."
"I just don't think that the current state of the thread is what J Bridge intended."
"random thoughts"
"intended"
DOES NOT COMPUTE.
I am not particularly familiar with "Random Thoughts" but I do think that most topics in Yack Fest do not tend to invite lengthy or focused discussions. I think OTC ones do, but I could understand if you had reservations posting there. Still, I do not think that Yack Fest is generally more about chatting with friends than anything else so I would not blame it too much for lacking sustained conversations.
AHR,
It makes me sad. The places I hold the best conversations these days
seems to be roleplaying and writer's,and the roleplaying conversations
tend to be rather...in character.
I think that the old IJBM was actually one of the best places on TV Tropes to have sustained discussions about various topics because it was not intimidating, did not have a super serious atmosphere, and was open to discussions in threads no matter who made them (well, at least most of the time). I imagine that now that it is gone it is at least somewhat tougher to have good conversations on TV Tropes.
That being said, I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the current discussion in the Christian Tropers topic, so I wonder if Troper Covens can actually be a good place for that kind of stuff too.
The threads are, like, all jumbled up now. Some days the Trash Heap gets more activity than Troper Updates, and also has more coherent conversation that PYRT a lot of the time.
It's weird.
