Opposition to Gay couples adopting.

It is harmful for the children to stay/become stuck in care, and there are an awful lot of studies about how same sex parents are as good as 'regular' parents at raising children. (One such study for example.)

    Clearly with same sex parents, children will become confused about gender, because as we know kids with straight parents never have issue with- OH WAIT.

    True story time:

    At university one of my sociology lectures was looking at gender and society and same sex adoption came up.
    A very loud and opinionated mature student then decided to give a speech about how any child growing up without an influence of both genders/sexes would be messed up and have a lower quality of life.

    Cue another mature student ripping her argument to shreds in an incredibly focused and aggressive manner, as she was a lesbian mother who had adopted and had to listen to this other woman basically saying her child was fucked up.

    After that you could have cut tension in the room with a knife.

    My mom believes kids need a female presence to compliment a male presence. But I don't give her much flak for it. I just don't think she realizes the implications of what she's saying, and she's really saying "needs someone to take care of the kids"

    Of course, she's not talking about gay couples. Just my single-father-uncle person.

    Homophobes will be homophobes es, this  one guesses. (sigh) Just got reminded how common homophobia is where this  onne lives. arguing against the whole room is not fun, and it gets even weirder when even the  pleasant people this one  likes are loud homophobes.

    Anyway, there is nothing wrong with homosexual couples adopting. As been said, it is much better for the children than being stuck in the foster care, so it is exactly the folk who insists "Think of the children!!!" who should support it.

    While Gay rights is hardly ideal or cutting edge in the US, it's still better than a lot of places.
