How unreasonably difficult the Persona games are.

MORONS! I'VE GOT MORONS ON MY PAYROLL!
Honestly, it seems needless to me. With JRPGs, there isn't the 'need to react NOW' element most action games have so most of their difficulty comes from the strategy (in my experience)

and Persona seems to love making the strategies for their games so circuitous you need to be looking up at a strategy guide to understand what to do.

Oh, and Persona 4 doesn't even have a proper GameFAQs article. Beautiful.

Danmit Persona, why is your story so good?

  • You can change. You can.
Because you're her bitch, Malk. She lives to make you suffer.
  • MORONS! I'VE GOT MORONS ON MY PAYROLL!
Since there's a press release where Atlus says 'We get off on your tears.' that may be more true than you think.
  • You can change. You can.
I was thinking about that, yes.

  • Dude you think Persona is hard? For the love of fuck never play SMT 1, 2 or 3. If you think Persona is Hard Nocturne will.....

..You know what. Get Nocturne. Play Nocturne. Record yourself playing Nocturne.

We shall laugh as you suffer.
  • MORONS! I'VE GOT MORONS ON MY PAYROLL!
Fortunately for you my self-hatred has gotten to the point that suffering brings a near-sexual joy.
  • You can change. You can.

Also, I don't see what's so bad about high difficulty, myself.
  • MORONS! I'VE GOT MORONS ON MY PAYROLL!
It's the form of the difficulty that makes it frustrating. The enemies have a pre-determined level, rather than having a level to match you (like in WRPGs) and they'll have befuddling combinations like 'weak to fire but dodges fire' which makes reacting on the fly a rather unreasonable.
  • They're somethin' else.
I just hate how counterintuitive most rpgs are. And you have to win via incredible foresight and preparation. You can't just compensate for underleveledness. If you're stuck on your save and can't turn back, you're fucked.
  • MORONS! I'VE GOT MORONS ON MY PAYROLL!
    Well, there's grinding....
  • They're somethin' else.
What if you suckered yourself too far into the dungeon to grind w/o running out of resources?

If this was a Metroidvania, I could win by reflexes and dodge and strike tactics alone.
  • Hi Malk!

Anyway, that sounds somewhat interesting. I kinda like JRPGs and I like challenging games. Should I try to pick up a Persona game? I can get the one for the PSP, at least.
  • They should all be ported to the XBox 360. All of them.

  • They're somethin' else.
Pick up 3 on PSP or 4 for the PS2. They're both pretty good.
  • MORONS! I'VE GOT MORONS ON MY PAYROLL!
3 has a super-deluxe version the PSP and the very fabric of reality must be breaking because I'm actually recommending a PSP game.
  • Stop it then.
Don't give in to S*ny's evil.

  • I don't have a PS2. PSP version it is.
  • Now all I need to do is get the M rating past him >_>

Persona 4 was loleasy.  The only really hard part is the first dungeon.  It is hard if you choose to play on the hard difficulty though, and it's not your New Game +.

And also Persona 4's story is only good up until the second-to-last dungeon, after which it becomes completely generic and boring.

It still was a really fun game though.

Dunno about the other Persona games.
