When I'm caught in the middle of two stupid opinions.

MORONS! I'VE GOT MORONS ON MY PAYROLL!
and I get hated for being in the middle ground.

Whether it's moe anime, politics, or vidya, I violently hate when people resent that I point out that the other guy might have a point.

  • I didn't know you hung around here.

It's a stupid thing to do, getting pissed at people for being in the middle.
  • Malkavian,

I think I agree with you. I dislike it when people seem to get all of their information about something from one side and then brush off other perspectives completely. I think that many times one needs to be aware of the other arguments in order to strengthen one's own and one should try to converse with those who have different opinions in order to understand them better.

I feel similarly about people describing certain groups (such as Democrats or Republicans) or specific persons as if they are absolutely dumb or evil and have no basis for their beliefs.

On a somewhat related note, I have seen people say that moderates do not really exist or that people cannot really be moderate on stuff. I definitely disagree with that view as well.

    ~♥YES♥~! I *AM* a ~♥cupcake♥~! ^_^
    There really isn't enough love for being moderate about things. Nobody likes centrists and moderates (yes, these are different things). ;_;

I'm no fan of the golden mean fallacy. I don't think someone being in the center automatically means they're right. In fact, I think Fox hires people like Glenn Beck specifically to make their views seem more centrist, then be look like reasonable people for hiring him while Rupert Murdoch drinks his red wine in his fancy chair, saying 'keikkaku dori'. (I like to imagine Rupert Murdoch is a Death Note fan)

I realize that I'm basically pulling out a grenade here, but the biggest one for me is the abortion issue, especially being caught between a vehemently pro-choice ex and my psychotically pro-life dad. The idea that it was actually a complicated issue which is what made it so hot button did not result in fun times.

no longer cuddly, but still Edmond
Oh hey, Malkavian posts here! I was always curious what you'd think of this (or this if you can't/don't wanna access TVT).

As for the subject, I'll admit I've been both ways about it. Sometimes I hate the moderates, sometimes I hate the extremists. It seems to always be in relation to where I stand on the given issue though. It's dumb to hate someone just because they don't take sides though. Some kind of Terry Goodkind thinking must be going on there.
  • the way my country functions my prefrence is to Take a Third Option.
  • "In fact, I think Fox hires people like Glenn Beck specifically to make their views seem more centrist"

Dude, Beck is the least centrist person ever.
  • MORONS! I'VE GOT MORONS ON MY PAYROLL!
That's my point. They hire Beck to make folks Hannity and those natterers on Fox And Friends look more to the center than they actually are.

    You can change. You can.
    "Moe anime sucks."
    "Kawaii desu haters gonna hate"
    "To each their own."
"Now I hate you. You suck."
    "Baka."

I personally dislike the middle one. Not because it's wrong, mind you, but because I believe it's something implicit when it comes to preferences. I believe that when it comes to media discussion, stating it should be avoided and just kept in mind for both parties in order to have...a...you know, discussion.

Mind you, it can be brought up, when it's appropiate (When your opponent ain't listening and he's just dissing for fun)
