  • Well I sya it's unreasonable to wiretap my home and demand my personal information.
  • ^^ Well he's gonna love this bit of news then.
  • He also extended the disasterous bush tax cuts, prevented the closure of Guantanamo Bay, and will end his term with more troops in Afghanistan then he even started with.

He's not just failing some of his campaign promises, he's practically breaking them all and capitulating left and right to republicans.

I wish they'd primary a DIFFERENT democrat into the 2012 race.
  • as far as Democrats go Mike Gravel is the best bet IMO
  • "disasterous bush tax cuts"

My dad won't shut up about how these caused a massive economic boom, and I have no idea if he's right or not. Did it, or is he talking out of his ass?
  • Two things I don't like are his attempts at appeasing both sides, and the fact that congress (and Republicans in general) will oppose him at every turn.
  • When in Turkey, ROCK THE FUCK OUT
^^ He is talking out of his ass so much he could grow a new pair of lips.

The Bush tax cuts, almost more than everything else combined, completely and utterly destroyed the economy.

    CRIMINAL SCUM!
Frankly. His tax cuts did zero to help the economy. The only thing they did was put money into rich people's pockets. His other policies, like deregulating the banking industry, led to the bubble.

Chagen, your dad is such a moron that, by default, you should assume everything he says is the opposite of the truth in reality.
  • Seriously, I don't think your dad gives this kind of thing a lot of thought.
  • So we should rais taxes and take more money from the people?
  • Strange, the Wikipedia page for it doesn't really give me an answer.
  • Till shade is gone, till water is gone, into the Shadow with teeth bared, screaming defiance with the last breath, to spit in Sightblinder’s eye on the last Day.

  • We should have the h and of government to strangle the market with excessive regulation? We should just let them do eveyrthing honestly NATIONALIZE EVEYRTHING!

^^^ Well, Wikipedia strives to be neutral. Calling the Bush tax cuts "unbelievably retarded" would be a bit negative.
  • I don't know exaclty what he did. did he cut taxes across the baord or only for certain people? Also "in to rich peoples pockets" as if again being rich makes you a bad person undeserving of the money you earn. everybody deserves to keep their money if not we should just cut out the middle man, abol ish m oney, and nationalize everything.

    CRIMINAL SCUM!
    ^^^^^^

    YES.

Tax rates are so low it should be called criminal.
  • What are you a masochist? RAIS MY TAXES!
  • Okay, then why is extending tax cuts for wealthy people good for the economy as a whole?
  • edited 2011-06-24 22:27:40
I would equalize the tax cuts honestly lower taxes across the baord. I don't beleive in unequal treatment by the state.  the more money that eveyrone has to spare the more that will flow through the people. People don't just sit on money you know. They put it in places where it circulates. People have a right to their own money and their own property and I don't want to see that destroyed for anyone. You asume any time there's tax cuts it just means "give the rich special treatment" i'm not talking about that because i'm sick of this class warfare bullshit. Everyone deserves equal treatment under the law no favors, no special treatment.
  • ^ The rich do. The rich have trillions and trillions of dollars that are just flat and unused.

If things keep going the way they are. Eventually society will collapse because the middle class won't have enough money to keep the economy going. We're already seeing this as the middle class shrinks. Meanwhile, all the wealth in the country will be in the hands of a few million. It'll be an aristocracy like the middle ages all over again.

That doesn't make any economic sense! What use is having thzt money if you just put it there. Money has no inherent value aside from it's use in an economy. If it just sits there it's worthless. Also could we stop syaing "the rich" as if they're this ominus hive minded collective?
  • Tnu, that's what YOU should be asking THEM. Their answers will astound you.
  • If you must eat a phoenix, boil it, do not roast it. This only encourages their mischievous habits.
Most of the rich people's money is in liquidity, actually.
  • That just means it's a liquid asset as far as I know. That doesn't say much of what use it is without being spent. Liquid assets only have value when exchanged.

    Liquid assets. As in...

Stakes in business. Many rich people own a lot of shares in businesses.
