How many people who know the game has even played it, I wonder?

The game itself is rather unspectacular so far. I'll even say that it's mostly boring in the three stages I've played. Of course, I've answered the question of why nobody may want to play it, but I doubt anybody knows about the gameplay itself. (Obviously the intro doesn't count as gameplay)

The music's pretty awesome, but yeah, It's a pretty average game.

I wonder the same thing about Phalanx and Ridge Racer. Whether most people haven't even played the game and only care about one aspect (the cover art and RIIIDDDDGEEE RACEEERRR!!!, respectively).

^^ The music didn't amaze me. The only Genesis music that I've heard that interested me came from Thunder Force IV and probably III. (EDIT: Also, Gunstar Heroes)

^ I haven't played them yet, though if I feel like downloading some random ROMs I'll try them.

The main problem with Zero Wing is that the stages are very long and yet there's almost no difficulty for at least three stages except for a few cheap moments.

You can also randomly(?) collect a 10-up in Zero Wing. Yes, I'm talking about lives, here. There's a similarly random power-up that super-sizes your multiples and their shots. I also got them from the same enemy in two different playthroughs, so maybe it gives you those items under certain conditions.
