The IRL Higurashi movie disappointed me. Not because the characters didn't look like their anime counterparts (that would be impossible to do without making it look stupid).
They just made everything very not scary, errish and boring with the amount of flawed acting and bad shots.
You needed to know this.

Well... that's not Higurashi at all, but same idea.
Also, it was because of the fact that a lot of the music didn't convey the emotion along with the actors. It seemed more like the weird unrelated music that plays in the background of the Dragon Ball Z movies while the fighters are talking or fighting.
Since Higurashi is about conveying fear and uncertainty the least they could do is...make you feel nervous about the characters. The girls were cute, but they didn't look as inhuman and scary as they should have been when the whiplash moments came in, when the screaming and spine-chilling laughter came into play.
I are a sad Hanyuu.
